Is there a way to remedy tired, burning eyes without actually sleeping?

Asked by Facade (22937points) November 30th, 2009

I only got about five hours of sleep last night when I’m used to at least nine. My eyes are killing me! They’re not red or anything, but they’re sensitive and burning.
Is there anything I can do?
Will saline solution help?

Thanks y’all

Wash your face with cold water. Rub your closed eyelids and wash the sticky stuff out of the creases.
I find that helps.

You can get OTC eyedrops for irritated eyes. Ask your pharmacist and use only for the suggested time.

@Fyrius I should mention that I’m already made up
@gailcalled Hm. I didn’t know that.

Are you sure it wasn’t the magic dragon that gave you those tired eyes?

Bausch and Lomb’s Collyrium Eye wash Solution – local drug store

Saline will help, but artificial tears would probably work better.

i was going to say eyedrops but everyone has already mentionned them..visine is a good brand. you could also take a washcloth with cold water and just apply it on your eyes(closed) for about 30–40 seconds. that always helps me.

Real Tears eyedrops. It’s like a fresh spring breeze in your face.

For girls tear drops and a bit of coverup and foundation under the eyes plus caffine, it won’t cure it but will get you through the day until you can sleep.
