Is there any way you could spark a discussion like the one below on Fluther?

This Sodahead.com post http://www.sodahead.com/united-states/america-privatizes-gravity/blog-219653/#post_5012197 is really a piece of beautiful political satire—a thought experiment about issues like our current US healthcare reform debate. Would there be a way to do this here on Fluther?

Wonderful satire. LOL.

You can certainly start such a discussion here. As far as I can see, you are not limited in the length of the explanation part of the question. I’ve seen small novels by some questioners on here.

Give it a try.

LOL OMG YA!

Free market is so dumb lol! It never works haha!

@jackm Since I assume that was an attempt at sarcastic humor on your part, I should clarify that there are many people who are against the U.S. governments thirty year spate of privatization of government functions who are not against free markets. It’s not that free markets are always bad, or dumb, but that free markets are not always the best approach.

It would be easy to spark a very valuable philosophical discussion on here, and it would be possible to incorporate some satirical asides in the details of your question. But basically, this is not a satire site. If you want a good site for posting satirical writing, I used to do this myself many years ago at a site called the Spoof…you can see my profile here and look at some of the satirical pieces I’ve written, or just go to the main page to see what others are writing at this time. There is a way to comment on stories and you end up on a message board…I had many compelling discussions which started from my stories or someone else’s. But stylistically, that is not what Fluther is about. Now, what I would be likely to do is to find a creative outlet for satirical writing like this, and then ask a straightforward question on Fluther, referencing your piece with a link, like you just did. One thing about this site is that humor is employed ALL THE TIME, it’s just not the premise for the questions…we want to get good discussions going and then insert humor into those discussions, we don’t want to start conversations with a glib premise, because that tends to skew towards less serious answers overall.

@dalepetrie Thanks. I do appreciate your taking the time to explain to me the way this forum operates and where its limits lie.
