Why do some people drive up to a convenience store, turn off their vehicle, leave the sound system blasting and go inside?

Asked by plethora (10007points) January 23rd, 2010

We all pump our own gas so we are all exposed to this behavior. What, if anything, do you do…or have you ever done, when this is dumped in your lap? Does it make you angry? Or does it not bother you?

because their probably between the ages of 16 and 30 and thier hearing hasn’t begun to desolve because of the constant loud music.

to show off?

plethora's avatar

@j3fr0 No doubt…at the very least

j3fr0's avatar

@plethora as long as the music is good it usually doesn’t bother me…

If I’m a passenger in said car then the driver usually leaves the music on for me as well as the a/c. If I’m the driver and you’re my passenger then I try to leave you in comfort as well. There are times when pumping gas alone I leave my music on so I can keep enjoying the song uninterrupted.

Because it is awesome.

@plethora Is it almost always done by those guys in orange Caddy’s with 50” rims?

Fred931's avatar

@str1cken People who do this just seem to think “they allz dat, f—- yeh b!tch.” I hate that.

Because someone hasn’t punched them in the face and told them to stop yet.

Probably to show off a bit,
to show they can, to stick it in your face, to be inconsiderate in your face,
to show off their sound system, to share their music with you wether you want to or not,
just to show they can do what they want, to show you who they are listening to and who is cool with them…,because they were brought up in a loud environment and this is normal and they don’t notice…there are so many variables within this “it’s all part of our culture and it’s normal” attitude.
or all that is wrong, and they just wanted to hear their song all the way through.
but hey, i have heard some really pumped up systems with some really good sounds
within all that.

I could be wrong in making this assumption but I thought we needed to shut off the engine when we pump gas because the running engine could cause an explosion.

@Flo_Nightengale – the engine is off, but probably on that first key click the name of which I can’t remember where you can still have the radio on.

To answer the question, does it bother me? Yes, but that’s because it’s never done with a tune I want to hear!

@Fred931 Yup…exactly
@babaji My guess is you got it exactly right in the first paragraph. Note I said they don’t even stick around to listen to it. The go in the store.
