I need help, my wireless driver has gone missing?

Asked by anon30 (334points) February 8th, 2010

It’s been missing for about a month now, and I haven’t really been worrying about it cause I been using a cable modem, till now.

Well first, my Laptop (Compaq) Vista home prem. came from a pawn shop, (yes a pawn shop) but it was in good condition. with 2 discs for drivers, a Nvidia driver and Broadcom 802.11 wireless drivers (thats what it says on the disc)

The network adapter is no where to be found on my computer, even installing the disc, it’s no where.

I think the last time I reinstalled my computer with it’s built in recovery. It still didn’t work (and i’m not sure about that) I know 2 weeks ago the wireless came on for a whole night but after I turned it back-on it stopped.

Now what I think il have to reinstall the driver with a more up-to-date one, but where can I get the download?

Could you find the email of the company’s tech support and have them email it to you?

The only direct link I have found to an SP3911 driver so far is this German site

The Broadcom site doesn’t seem to admit that such a model exists :P
