What is this white spot (like a discoloration) on the top lip ?

Heylo every one ! I am asking this on the behalf of my boyfriend .

I am just wondering if any of you have seen this kind of problem before .

About 2–3 years ago , he developed some kind of discoloration / white patch on the upper lip . It is not itchy or painful , and has been the same size ever since it appeared .

Do any of you know what is this problem ? I’ve tried looking for it online but can’t find anything that is relevant to it . If anyone could direct me to where I should look at , it will be very much appreciated !

I’ve included a picture of my boyfriend’s lip with the white patch .

I’ve been getting them on my arms and legs. If it is the same thing (only a dermatologist can confirm) it is hypo-pigmentation; a lack of pigmentation in an area and probably caused by exposure to the sun. Not harmful, but there is nothing much to do about it.
