Does working on a 1099 disqualify one from future unemployment payments in California?

Asked by sustainable_stability (87points) March 15th, 2010

If someone is unemployed and accepts contract work (on a 1099), can they file for unemployment after the contract ends or are they then considered self-employed and ineligible for unemployment?

Thanks!

It depends on several factors. You should apply and they will make the determination.
