How do I stop this? I'm very scared/restless.

Asked by ElleBear (20points) April 3rd, 2010

Lately, I’ve felt deathly afraid of just…being alone, forgotten, fading out of peoples lives. Last night was the worst of it, I had a dream about the ending of the world, my family all committing suicide, and being completely alone and helpless. I don’t know why exactly I feel like this, I have friends..I have family, but It’s gotten to the point where this feeling is so painful that I just would rather die than have to feel anymore of it. I really hate this anxious feeling like everything I’ve ever loved is going to disappear, so I want to before everything else does… I know that eventually everyone will grow tired of me and I’ll be alone again
I don’t know how to fix this. I want to, I just don’t know how. Please help me.

I have bad news for you, I’m afraid. One of the most respected members here (maybe several, in fact) have exactly the same fear that you’ve described so well above—and have been dealing with it forever.

So maybe it would help you to know—if this isn’t too paradoxical—that you’re not alone in this?

And welcome to Fluther. You’re among (potential) friends here.

Talk to a professional (shrink or counselor), would be my suggestion. Could be depression and panic teaming up on you. They might be able to offer a suggestion to make things slightly easier, either through therapy or medication or a combination of the two.

as @CyanoticWasp said, you are not alone in this.

Just a brief note to support @rahm_sahriv ‘s answer above. It’s a good idea to try to get some help. Anxiety is treatable; you don’t have to suffer.

My sister when we were kids would have panic attacks at night and tell me the same thing as you discribed. all I could do, is tell her well, Im here with you now, I think it made her feel alittle bit better.

It sounds like your anxiety is out of control. There is medication that can help you. Please see your doctor or a therapist ASAP.

I know how you feel. I’ve been there. You really need to see a mental health worker, suck as a clinical psychologist. Don’t delay doing this, please.

Go spend the weekend with friends or family; you are by yourself too much. Watch happy movies too.

Sounds like depression and some form of panic attack. Don’t be afraid to go to a professional who may prescrible medicines if he/she thinks it is necessary. DON’T LEAVE IT, it could blow itself out of proportion. Get help and try to spend time outdoors, walking, socializing and not sitting at home thinking non-stop. You are NOT alone in feeling all this and it WILL go away with your efforts and the help of a professional. Please don’t delay and get help so you can start feeling better. Don’t sit at home moping and crying, get out more! GOOD LUCK.

Firstly, perhaps a chapter of your life is coming to an end. Death doesn’t always mean US. Find some music that goes along with your feelings. Sing, sing, sing! Get some fresh air,,,eat right…drink plenty of water. Walk. But, mostly, singer your butt off. The release will do you a wonder of good. And know, always, that you are not alone.
