NSFW - Is it possible for hair roots to uproot and find a new home?

Asked by Sophief (6681points) April 14th, 2010

I don’t have black hair, but I have had one single black pubic hair for about 2 week. I have waxed twice and it still comes back. I was wondering if it is possible that while my s/o and I have sex, a hair has come off of him and gone into me?

I’m no doctor, ut if it was that easy baldness wouldn’t really be an issue, would it?

Sophief's avatar

@Thammuz I don’t know, I’ve never rubbed myself up on a bald mans head!

Thammuz's avatar

@Dibley LOL.

Anyway i don’t think that’s it. Hair can vary wildly in colour expecially pubic and facial hair. i have a classmate whose hair is brown, and yet his beard is irish-like when it starts growing long. I have dark brown hair and yet i often have blond hair popping out in my goatee.
And, no, i don’t go rubbing my chin on blond people.

@Thammuz Thought it wouldn’t be possible. It just looks a little odd.

@Dibley if you have made that work you will be rich curing baldness. The truth is that what color our hair appears to the eye is made up by all the different shades of hair we have growing. Most of us do hot have hair of uniform color.

I don’t think so @Dibley. As others have said, hair color varies wildly. Hair can be transplanted on the same person (usually badly), but unless you have an exact tissue match (or rejection-surpressing drugs) it’s highly unlikely. Simple body contact, no matter how forceful, isn’t going to be enough to effect that transfer anyway. The hair in a different place, color or texture may be a sign of some hormonal change, I’m no medical expert.

Just enjoy your great relationship Dibs, and try not to over-analyze it. ((hugs))

I don’t think that is possible.

CMaz's avatar

If that was the case. I would not be bald.

I don’t think a hair could transplant itself.

If I may ask, why does this black hair bother you enough to make you want to get rid of it?

Sophief's avatar

@wundayatta It doesn’t bother me, and I don’t want to get rid of it. It just amazed me when I first saw it.

The mystery of the black hair!! I have one too, at the top of my left arm slightly above my bicep, I’m naturally fair haired although going grey now, I’ve had this hair since I can remember, jet black & really course & thick, I clip it short every now & then as it gets quite long for some reason?? :-/ I’ve no Idea why it’s there? Must be from the gene pool somewhere along the line I guess??

You could name it…..Harry!

Dibs, you’re too funny. I have one single black hair growing out of my right wrist. I pluck it, it comes back. Hehehehe, bet mine hurts less to pluck than yours! ;-)

Really Dibley? Cmon.

lol. That’s not how it works. I think in a high school biology class one of my teachers explained how hair works and it was something like (digging back 10 years) each follicle is encoded to produce a certain type of hair color/texture/thickness/etc. The texture of your head hair is not the same as your pubic hair, e.g. And color can change over time. Most likely it is a renegade. It is a common thing to happen.

A renegade hair?
well in that case, I think you should name it “Dirty Harry”
lol!

My tongue would be one ball of fur if that was true.

That just means there’s a different pigment in the skin there. That’s why sometimes people have hair growing out of moles or freckles that is darker than their other hair. And some people, like my mother, may have one streak of white hair their whole lives because there’s a patch of skin with no pigment.
So even if there isn’t a noticeable mark on the epidermis, it probably has something to do with pigment.

I hope it doesn’t come from swallowing semen.

I thought that caused weight gain not hair growth? I’m confuzzled.
