My labtop computer seems to be completely dead. What can I do?

Asked by skfinkel (13537points) March 16th, 2007
I had left my portable computer in my car (in an unheated garage--but it's not freezing here), so it would be handy to have when I went to coffee shops. I tried to start it up last night, and absolutely no response--the lights don't go on when it is plugged in--absolutely nothing. Is there help for this poor little machine (IBM)?

Plug it in, hold down the power button for 10 seconds... if nothing works, I would call the manufacturer (IBM) and see if it's still under warranty and if they will fix it.

That happened to my Dell laptop at work recently and it turned out it needed a new motherboard. I have no idea what that is. But it wouldn't run on battery and it wouldn't charge or run on the power cord. Dell came out and replaced the motherboard and it started right up.

The bouncing around in the trunk could have done boo-boo to the hard drive which would be that's all folks. OTH try this: unplug it. take out the batteries, physically remove them. plug it in. try to boot up.
