Who do you think will win this year's Ryder Cup?

Asked by ucme (50047points) September 29th, 2010

Yeah golf fans i’m talking to you. I don’t anticipate much of a reaction to this question. Not too many sports fans here, much less golf. Anyway, for those who are interested & actually have an opinion on this, welcome & what’s your idea of this weekends winner? On paper the European team looks the stronger outfit. However Monty’s picks are, in my opinion, not the best. Casey & Rose would have made for a far stronger team. Seems to me there are too many Ryder Cup rookies which leave “us” a little exposed. The US team also have this problem along with the “Tiger effect” which could go either way. Personally I think & hope Europe will regain the cup but it’ll be closer than a lot predict.

Europeans for these reasons. First, the Fed Ex has taken it’s toll on our best players. Now, they have to fly over there to play. Secondly, our top players are not playing well at this time, Tiger and Phil. Also, there best players Luke Donald etc. are playing very good. Plus, they get to sleep in their beds…makes a huge difference. Not to mention that our top players are getting older and their best players are in their prime.

Yeah cheers @BoBo1946 Like I say, think it may be closer than expected. Looking forward to it :¬)

[Mod Says] Just because a question is posted in social it does not mean it is open to trashing.

Please resist the temptation to post if you feel like being a jerk. :)

Many thanks!

@ucme we’ve one advantage, Corey Pavin vs Monty! And, I’m not sure that makes much difference actually.

Well it probably won’t be the bloody yanks, what the heck is happening with Tiger anyhow??? He still has plenty of money left and now he can have all the hookers he wants without worrying about getting caught.

The Europeans are getting pretty cocky, some of the interviews are actually funny!

Will be fun to watch though.

Roo, Tiger’s mind is full of stuff other than golf. If I had been him, would have passed up the Ryder Cup and took a long trip. I’ve been through a bad divorce and it will take him a year or so to get his head back where it was…. Hope he gets it back. What happened is sad. Think Tiger’s dad had a lot of influence on him.

@BoBo1946 – you are a nicer person than I, you actually seem to feel sorry for him. I think who among us has not gone through a rough divorce (and his divorce doesn’t seem to be all that down and dirty under the circumstances, his ex-wife could have made a lot more to do had she chosen) or lost a parent??? He is the master of his universe and did some really stupid things. It always amazes me that these high profile individuals think they can kiss and no one will tell???

I agree with you he should have passed on the Ryder Cup this time around, but maybe he will surprise us all, you never know!

@rooeytoo what really gets me..is the influence he could have had on children…sad. I wish that Elin and Tiger could have worked it out, but i can certainly understand why she could not…that would take a very strong person, like Hillary…wow, she is one tough lady.

Well, when you are hollering during those matches, remember, I’m hollering too.

Take care my friend!

Go USA..

Europe. Home turf advantage and US is rolling with some inexperienced players. Plus our top guys, as was pointed out earlier, are not playing their best golf this season. It will be a great matchup for sure. Now, whose getting up at 2am to watch all this? Test of a true fan…

@BoBo1946 Boy they cut it fine in the end & what about all that rain! It rained so much in Wales all the sheep shrunk :¬)

BoBo1946's avatar

it was a tough weekend to play. i never minded playing tourn. golf in a slow rain or when it was cold. Actually like to play in the wind, but all three, that is tough.

BoBo1946's avatar

@ucme Donald win over Furyk was the key. Furyk played great…Donald was out of his mind. 6 birdles on the 12 holes…it was close!

ucme's avatar

@BoBo1946 Yeah Poulter played out of his skin too. As it turned out every ½ point was crucial in the end. Mcilroy’s putt to halve his match with Cink another match turner. See you in two years!

BoBo1946's avatar

yeah, Poulter lost his mind….in another zone!
