Where are some places I can donate or volunteer?

Asked by Sunshine1245 (123points) November 16th, 2010

So the holidays are coming up and I would like to volunteer and help or make stuff for people less fortunate than me. Can you give me a list of charities in need of food, scarfs, or just volunteers for the holidays in the Indianapolis area?

Secret Santa collects toys for kids that wouldn’t get any otherwise. You can volunteer for them to do things like wrapping the donated toys, delivering the toys, etc.

look for a local food bank, or call the Salvation Army and ask them. Or th St Vincent De Paul Society. Or a local womens shelter, or if you belong to a church, ask your pastor for a place that needs help.

and thank you for reaching out to help others.

Midwest Food Bank
As a faith-based organization, it is the mission of Midwest Food Bank to alleviate hunger and poverty by gathering and distributing food donations to not-for-profits and disaster sites without cost to the recipients.

Try this site:

I also want to say thank you. I volunteer myself, and not enough people do. I think that it is very rewarding, interesting, and a heck of a lot of fun!
