Would you consider buying a portable turntable , with all the components or rather a turntable, amp, and use my speakers I already have for my 13 year old's foray into records?s?

Was looking at a Crosely cR6008A-BK Tech turntable with CD player for my kid or… buying a new turntable and finding an old amp and using the speakers we already have. The Crosely costs
179.00. What do you suggest is the best idea?

Hi, and welcome to Fluther.

I’m sorry, but I wouldn’t consider buying anything for your 13-year-old. I don’t even know the child!

But it might be a good idea for you to do, though.

One thing that I’m sure he’ll appreciate about most of the new portable turntables I’ve seen (I don’t know this one) is the USB connector that allows the vinyl track to be played and saved as an .MP3 file on an attached computer (or other USB device that can save the file).
