Best jazz club in New York City?

I’m planning on visiting New York City, and I would like to hear some live jazz. If I could choose one jazz club to visit, which one should it be?

Boy, I don’t think there really is one best jazz club in New York. My advice would be to either look at who is going to be playing in the clubs in the city around the time of your visit and decide who you would most like to see or research the clubs for yourself. Jazz is a very personal thing and NYC is a very, very big place with a very, very large number of options and choices.
