I was prescribed 450 mgs of zoloft in 1995, what was the max dose allowed in this year?

Asked by Robb (7points) April 18th, 2011

I was simply prescribed 450 mgs of zoloft in 1995. What was the max dose allowable in that year? Please help…I have lost my life and my ability to function, concentrate, sleep, work or have a productive life of any kind. I somehow made it through college and started my career as a teacher before the problems really began.

Wow. I’m on 400mg and seeing as you had problems with 450mg, I’m a little scared for myself…I think 400mg is the max for today

I don’t know the answer to your question, unfortunately, as I have been searching for a similar answer myself. I have found everything from 200mg to 400mg listed as the maximum dose. I have never seen 450mg, however.
I was on a lower dose than you, but in the mid to late 90s I was prescribed 350mg of Zoloft daily, along with three other medications. I was a wreck, and I fully believe that being overmedicated made my issues worse in the long run, so I do sympathize.
Are you taking anything at all, now?

I’ve heard that doses range from 50mg-200mg, though recent studies seem to show there is no significant increase in efficacy when taking more than 50mg.
