Having some serious problems installing a game...

Asked by El_Cadejo (34610points) May 27th, 2011

Ok so I used to have Lego Star Wars 3 Clone Wars on my computer. Then my comp crashed and I had to format everything. I was able to save some of my stuff though, one thing was what I thought at the time to be my game save from star wars.

When I got the comp running again I reinstalled lego star wars and it worked fine then I tried putting the supposed game save into place (I made a back up but being retarded I backed up the wrong thing >_<) and after that the game stopped working.

So ok no big deal, I corrupted the files or something just reinstall I thought. Wrong. I have no physically searched out and removed everything that can possibly even hint at being lego star wars and did a clean install and it still fails. I even went as far as creating a new account to try on that with no luck.

What happens when I try and install is a little box comes up saying the game is preparing to install and has a percentage that goes up to 100. Normally at 100 the game starts installing but for me once it hits 100 the damn thing just disappears and thats it. Ive checked the task manager and there is nothing running in the background either.

Anyone got any ideas of what in the hell is wrong and how I go about fixing it. The force is calling out to me to finish playing this game, though the way my comp has been behaving a feel like its def joined the dark side….

You could try removing all game related entries from the registry.
The installer might look into the registry, find the entries, and then conclude that the game is already installed.

How would I go about doing that?

Well I just control F’d my way through the registry looking for anything that resembled the game in any way. I feel like I got it all but still the problem persists. Its also odd that it will only let me try and install it once. If I click on the exe after that nothing happens at all.

You could try a registry cleaner instead of doing it manually.
