On a scale ranging from 0 to 10 how attentive are you ?

Asked by Hibernate (9091points) May 28th, 2011

The scale :
0 – top observant
10 – you rarely notice stuff

I mean how often do you pay attention to what other people say ?
Do you notice changes in your friends wardrobe / haircuts etc ?

When reading or talking to someone else how much attention do you give to what you read or to your partner ?

Discuss and try not to flame each other please.
Thanks.

I’ll start.
I’m a 2 ... or I’d like to think that I’m a 2.

I pride myself on my attention to detail…

I’m almost a 9 though I sometimes pick up nuances that others don’t see.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

In most cases 9 unless I am decidedly uninterested or trying to ignore and then I drop down to about a 2. It’s very hard for me to tune out stuff around me.

It depends on how interested I am in what I have in front of me.
When people are atlking tome I give them undivided attention and I expect the same. So in that I’m 0.
I am 5 in people’s wardrobe, haircuts, etc.

In general, I don’t pay attention to much that goes on around me, unless I choose to make an effort to do so.

Seriously though, when it matters, I am almost laser-like precise.

Yes, I am.

I would definitely have to give myself a B-.

I’m pretty damn attentive/observant. I’d say on average a 7 or more.

Sometimes I ‘zone out’ while driving, but, am on high subconscious alert.

In terms of my attentiveness to others, I have a keen memory and am attentive to hearing and asking about specifics others share with me.

I can get a bit longwinded when I am excited or feeling passionate about something, which is fairly often, but, I do my best to not fall into any extreme, self absorbed patterns.

I catch myself pretty quickly when I become aware I might be dominating a conversation.

Awareness takes conscious practice, first you have to become aware that you are not aware. lol

Some of you observant people haven’t noticed that the top of the scale is 0 and not 10!!!

mazingerz88's avatar

Now that I’m older I’m a 0. When I was younger, easily a 5.

stardust's avatar

I’d say I’m an 8 or 9, unless I’ve no interest. In that case, I’m a 2 or 3

About a 1. I notice almost everything in an almost uncanny fashion. I can also visualize items and scenarios almost to a T after the fact.

However the circumstance must involve visuals and/or audio. (music, sounds) I’m good with those.

On the other hand, if you tell me, “Hey cookie-man, can you bring home milk?” – I will surely forget it.

Hahaha @flutherother
Perfect! Touche!
Big fat 10 for me on that scale, Oops…but hey, no fair…what the hell, that definitely messes with bell shaped curve!

Okay..revision…2–3 MOST of the time!

Give me a big fat ZERO!!! I am usually very in tune with people, so much so when I buy gifts for people they often wonder how could I have possible known they wanted what they got. I watch their expressions and listen to what they say when we are out and then go back and buy it later. This is usually how I get my Christmas shopping done so early.

What was the question??

choreplay's avatar

My wife says I’m a Ten. (can we keep it between me, my wife and all of us exactly what the scale is for???) ;)

muppetish's avatar

It depends (on what, I haven’t the faintest idea.) I can be a two and completely space out about things, or I can be an eight-nine and notice tiny details.

Thanks for replies.

I’d give him a 14.7
