Has anyone ever made art for you, inspired by you, or based on you?

Asked by ANef_is_Enuf (26839points) August 16th, 2011

I’m not talking about something you’ve commissioned or requested. Have you ever been someone’s muse? Inspiration for a piece of artwork without you requesting it?
I have collected so many of these over the years, I’m sure a great deal of it is because I hang out with so many artistic people, but each piece is very special to me.
Do you have something similar? Pics would be awesome.

A guy once wrote a song for me.

My friend sketched the bottom half of my face with his hands on my lips in a high school art class. That’s about it.

Yes, this

Lol. I apologize. I just could not resist.

@redfeather What was the title of that, “shut up” ? Lol.

I got struck in the cock one time while paintballing, does that count?
Sure did sting, I spoke with the voice of an angel for a full 2 days afterwards :¬(

Yes, some of my favorite pieces were hand made for me. I have a painting, sketches, some ceramic pieces and a ton of hand blown glass made by my brother done from sketches I made and of course stuff my kids have done some of which are very cool!

After looking through the art thread in Meta, I wonder if we could do a jelly art gift exchange one of these days.

@mazingerz88 more like, “let me taste that sugar”

My ex-husband is an excellent photographer and he would sometimes coerce me into doing photoshoots for him and I did consider his work art – here I am pregnant with our child.

The person that taught me tango is a great photographer/painter as well and he asked me to do a couple of photoshoots over the years with him with some parts later used in paintings. Here’s an example.

One of my best friends is my the third person to ever photograph me – here.

When I knew Steven Morse on wis.dm, he wrote a poem for me, inspired by me, whatever, and it was private so I can’t share it here. Also, my love writes music and writes songs about me and this one is my favorite of them all.

I’ve written poems for several people but if memory serves, I’ve had one poem written for me… not a very pleasant one mind you.

mazingerz88's avatar

@redfeather And that’s why I’m diabetic. Lol.

Neizvestnaya's avatar

Yes. Several musician friends have made songs, 3 poets made me poems and an ex painted a portrait and gifted it to me.
Not commissioned but requested, the former @CompassionateHeretic made me a colored pencil avatar when we were on wis.dm- he did so for many members. I still like mine well.

Yes.I have quite a few pieces of art and a song my friend wrote about me in order to get in my pants.—I do not treasure that—LOL!

I dated this guy briefly a few years ago. I dumped him, and soon after, my cat died. He did a charcoal drawing of my cat and me, based on a photo, and slid it under my door. It was super sweet, and almost enough for him to win me back!

mazingerz88's avatar

@sliceswiththings and @lucillelucillelucille Ah, art and seduction! When did it ever work?

King_Pariah's avatar

@mazingerz88 it worked for me the first relationship I was in (I wrote a poem) and it helped a pal of mine hook up with the girl of our dreams (we wrote a song which he crooned while playing the guitar outside her window when she was having a sleep over, she threw a shoe at him which was obviously an excuse for her to go out and shut him up with a kiss), they’re still together and looks like they might actually reach that elusive happily ever after.

@lucillelucillelucille
Well, at least now we know what does not work.
Back to the drawing board.

lucillelucillelucille's avatar

@mazingerz88 Actually it does work when done well.
@josie – :)

In fifth grade, a boy wrote a poem for and about me. My mom painted pictures of me until I was about 25 (whether I was there to pose or not). My son wrote a song for me.
But enough about me. . .

I’ve never inspired any artwork, to my knowledge, but I did purchase a beautiful piece created by an amazing jelly. Just had to throw that in there…

My kids. I’ve been their muse for many paintings, drawings and such.

My stalker used to write me poems and leave them all over the place.

Yes. I once posed semi-nude for a photographer friend of mine. They were very tasteful B&W images, and I’m glad I went outside my usual comfort-zone and just did it. As far as posting pics, I might, but the most revealing feature would always be my identity. (don’t need stalkers)

These were done by two internet strangers back around 2007? They sent them to me randomly, after seeing my pictures on Myspace. Kinda weird, but kinda flattering too.

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@8Convulsions those are both awesome.

Some girl who I have never met before drew this digital picture of me saving a small sleeping child from being eaten by Pennywise the Clown from Stephen King’s IT. The drawing is based on this photograph that I sent to her.

My husband painted a portrait of me. I really love it. :) I show up in a mural of his from time to time, and so do our kids. He’s also done a portrait of our daughter which I am currently too lazy to find and upload, but it’s lovely too. I know some of you have seen these paintings on Facebook!

ANef_is_Enuf's avatar

@MissAusten wow, that’s phenomenal.

wundayatta's avatar

I have been inspired by others mostly, but I have inspired a poem. I’d share it, but it’s very personal. It’s only ever been seen by two pairs of eyes.

aprilsimnel's avatar

I’ve been sketched a couple of times, but that was in high school.

Oh, wait, someone made a caricature of me at 19. But it was torn long ago and couldn’t be repaired.

I had been sunbathing on the beach with no clothes (it was that kind of beach), a middle-aged man came up to me with a pencil drawing he had drawn of me, it was rather good, he obviously had some talent, I must admit to being hugely flattered, I got to keep it I was about 18 years old.

linguaphile's avatar

I recently wrote a poem for a friend.

I’m usually the one doing the artwork and craft work for others. I had a couple poems written for me in my pre-kid days.

I work in mental health field and some of the patents would draw picture of and for me. It gives you the best feeling and we have some real artist as patients.

linguaphile's avatar

Horrors!! It happens so often that I totally forgot!! I get drawn at least once a week by my 8 year old artist daughter. Two days ago was the most recent one. XD

Earthgirl's avatar

Unclepepsi That is great! I am interested in folk art and what they call “outsider” art.
It’s a quite broad category. Adolf Wofli is really interesting and one of the first recognized outsider artists. His story is fascinating. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Adolf_Wölfli_General_view_of_the_island_Neveranger,_1911.jpg

I had a friend in college who was a poet. He wrote a poem about me moving to New York to make my way. It was in our student literary magazine. I still have the book. There were a few others he said he wrote with me in mind. I loved being his muse but I was not interested in a romantic relationship. That is what made us part ways. Last year he got an American poetry award for his first book of published poems. I was so happy for him!
