Possibly NSFW: For Women or Medical professionals - Does anyone else experience a tingling sensation "down there" after eating butter?

Asked by Ponderer983 (6416points) November 7th, 2011

I know this sounds really weird, but I have noticed the last few times I have eaten butter (real butter, not the imitations, and also only when it’s spread on something like bread or a bagel) that about a half a day later, I get this shooting tingling sensation in my vagina. It lasts about 12 – 24 hours then stops as long as I don’t eat more butter. Any thoughts as to what is going on? I tried to google it, but came up empty.

Can’t say that I have.

It may be psychosomatic, meaning you coincidently experienced that once, and now you are making an association and expecting the sensation to occur after eating butter.

I wouldn’t worry about it, if it was an allergic reaction a whole lot more would be going on than a tingling vagina. Rashes, stuffy head, breathing issues, hives, etc.

Could it be coincidental? How often do you eat real butter? Have you ruled out any other possibilities with your doctor?
It strikes me as usual that it only happens when it is spread on something. Have you eaten things with a butter based sauce or mixed with butter, and not had the same reaction?

No. I’m a butterholic, but I don’t orgasm after eating it.

Maybe it is a reminder of Marlon Brando.

this is in General? With all the humor potential for this???

This only happens with butter? Not with Margarine or Spread?
Did you ever see “Last Tango In Paris”?
Have you tried Country Crock?

My suggestion is to see a psychologist.

@filmfann It’s in general because I am serious about the question. I’m not looking to be mocked, I’m looking for an answer.

I usually use I can’t believe it’s not butter, and with that I have no problem. I realized when I was at my parent’s house (they only have real butter) that I was having the butter with stuff fro breakfast and it started happening. I tried to figure out what was new and I deduced it was the butter. I laid off it and the sensation stopped. I just brought it up again because I had a function at their house and I had bread with butter, and sure enough, it happened again. I don’t think it’s psychological as this has never happened before and have never had this feeling before to associate it with anything.

We all can assume that you are trying to consume this butter orally, right?

@filmfann LOL

I can’t believe it’s not butter!

Speaking of butter I dumped a container of soft Challenge on my wool persian rug recently carrying it back from another room. Gah! Major disaster, made my head tingle with anger! haha

@everephebe Yes – orally

I’m glad everyone is making a joke of this. I tried to avoid that by posting it in the general section and not social, as I am trying to find a serious answer to my question.

@Ponderer983 Oh take a joke….it’s funny because it’s so bizarre. Butter is a really general item to cause a reaction it seems….are you sure there isn’t something else? It seems like the bagels, or a seasoning on the bagels, would be more likely to do something like that than butter.

Here are about a gazillion women who have some kind of tingling in the morning after breakfast. Seems to be related to sitting down in the morning, from what I can tell. Some people mention UTIs. Some mention hyperthryroidism. Someone called it Persistent genital arousal disorder and says there is no cure. 2020 mentioned it in 2006.

Here’s a support website. One article on this site says that “the persistent sexual arousal may be triggered not only by sexual activity, but also by seemingly nonsexual stimuli or no apparent stimulus at all. (Leiblum-What is PGAD.pdf)

@Ponderer983 I understand your frustration with the “it’s not a joke” thing, but I don’t know many people who could read a question about butter consumption causing vagina tingling, and not think it was funny.

It would be like a man posting, “Why do pancakes make my penis tingle?” and getting upset when people laugh about it.

In a situation this bizarre, you’re far more likely to get a serious answer from a doctor, than you are from a bunch of us yahoos on a social site. Call your doctor.
