Have you ever done exactly the opposite of what you had actually wanted to do because of fear or uncertainty?

Is it true that people sometimes act very unlike themselves, do exactly what they don’t want to, either because of deep set fears, lack of confidence or as a form of projection?

I don’t separate out sides of myself. If I do something I regret later I apologize for it and don’t do it again. It drives me insane when people blame their bad behaviour on fears, lack of confidence or projection. I call them externalizers and they rarely have much personal responsibility.
