Audio Technicians: What mixing effects do you think were used to make Lua by Bright Eyes?

Asked by auhsojsa (2516points) February 4th, 2012

Lua by Bright Eyes is super dry. What effects were used to make this song?
I’m thinking a simple compressor, maybe some limiter, slight reverb on vox? How would you go about mixing and mastering this track? Can you write it out in steps? Thanks!

Example.
Step 1. Record
Step 2. Mix etc.

I want to record acoustic and vocals and would like to know some techniques on bringing out the best simple dry sound.

Well, to start you need a good ribbon mic. Sounds like the voice and guitar were recorded seperately. And yes the vocals have some reverb, guitar sounds like it was recorded with natural reverb in a bathroom.
