Suppose you had no imagination: Would you answer this question?

Asked by rebbel (35553points) April 12th, 2012

Say, you were unable to suppose things.
Would you (still) answer this question?
If so, how?

There are millions of ways to answer this and yet zero ways to answer this. Stop messing with my brain!

ragingloli's avatar

I don’t know who you are. I don’t know what you want. If you are looking for creativity, I can tell you I don’t have any imagination. But what I do have are a very particular set of skills; skills I have acquired over a very long career. Skills that make me a nightmare for people like you. If you stop trying to mess with me, that’ll be the end of it. I will not look for you, I will not pursue you. But if you don’t, I will look for you, I will find you, and I will kill you.

MilkyWay's avatar

No. I would not answer this question.
Oh shit. I just did, didn;t I?

Coloma's avatar

Can I imagine this Q. is a different Q.?
Take two imagination pills and post again in the morning.

picante's avatar

And imagine I had no supposition . . . either way, I’m sunk.

linguaphile's avatar

We are not supposed to have an imagination.

We are the Borg. We will add your biological and technological distinctiveness to our own. Resistance is futile, you will be assimiliated.

Trillian's avatar

I just can’t imagine that.

janbb's avatar

What would you say if I were to ask you if you had no imagination?

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

Actually, if I had no imagination, I suppose I would answer the question myself for once. My imaginary friends usually answer for me.

SpatzieLover's avatar

That’s what she said

Bent's avatar

No I wouldn’t, but I do, so I did.

SpatzieLover's avatar

My actual answer to this question.

chyna's avatar

Imagine no imagination if you can.
I can’t.

FluffyChicken's avatar

I would not, because one must have an imagination to ask less than obvious questIons, and I would never have found fluther if I was’t looking for answers to questions.

6rant6's avatar

Apparently

Keep_on_running's avatar

It would’ve been cool if absolutely no one ended up answering this question.

MilkyWay's avatar

^That would have been perfect and hilarious! Genuis @Keep_on_running ;)

Keep_on_running's avatar

@MilkyWay If only we were all telepathic…:p

thorninmud's avatar

Easy enough…just a moment, please.
There, I’ve just turned my imagination off.
I now have no imagination.
I’m just taking the world as it is.
I see your question.
It asks me to suppose that I have no imagination.
To suppose means to assume that something is actually the case.
Because it is actually the case that I have no imagination, this requires no imagination on my part.
I am answering your question.
I have fulfilled all of the requirements.
I’ll now turn my imagination back on, and be on my way.

JustPlainBarb's avatar

I can’t really answer this. Since I don’t have an imagination, I can’t imagine what I would say.

PhiNotPi's avatar

Yes, I would answer this question if I had no imagination.

Hawaii_Jake's avatar

I’m sorry. I can’t talk right now. Please, leave a message at the sound of the beep.

Sunny2's avatar

Yes or no depending on the weather that day.

Sunny2's avatar

That’s debatable.

Dutchess_III's avatar

What is happening to my answers???? They don’t post!!! They just DISAPPEAR!!! O help us! It’s the Fluther Monsters coming for our answers!!!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Srsly guys…I just posted “No,” twice in a row…and they both just ‘poof!’ disappeared.

Dutchess_III's avatar

that is so weird. Try posting just ‘No.’ and see if it disappears. I can’t be the only one…

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

No. You can’t make me.

Dutchess_III's avatar

No! Just post No. and nothing else! I’m serious!!

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

You can’t make me.

mazingerz88's avatar

Well…so what’s the question-? ( fingers tapping on the table )

AshLeigh's avatar

Blink Blink. Silence.

Adirondackwannabe's avatar

No
@Dutchess: Fibber. I’d like to see it though.

If I were not able to suppose, I probably wouldn’t be able to answer this question, since I wouldn’t be able to interpret, understand and analyze anything, let alone use a computer. That is, if supposing is as important in relation to those things as I think it might be. I suppose, therefore I assume, and you need some kind of vital brain activity to do that. what one does with said capacity and said tools is a whole other matter Nothing less, and I’d be crawling on the ground, writing my name on walls with my poop.

not that I don’t already do that…

abysmalbeauty's avatar

I imagine, had I no imagination and you asked me to answer this question I would not be able to answer it per se because I wouldn’t know what an imagination is.

Although my idea of imagination probably differs vastly from yours because I am told that the reason my son is “autistic” is because he hasn’t an imagination in the sense that there is no concept of meta representation and therefore there is no importance to the thoughts or feelings of others.

So if I cared less about your question which I would if I had no imagination… no I would not answer this question- it is too figurative for a person without imagination.

Sunny2's avatar

I didn’t mean it. I was coerced!

ratboy's avatar

Had I not conjured you up in my imagination to ask it, the question wouldn’t exist.

anartist's avatar

I couldn’t imagine whether I would or I wouldn’t.

Dutchess_III's avatar

IT’S STILL DOING IT!!! It takes Ho and Yo but not No! And it isn’t my imagination!!!! I’m telling Auggie!!!

rebbel's avatar

@Dutchess_III You forgot Neau ;-)

6rant6's avatar

@Dutchess_III You can’t repeat a post. You have to change something.

@Dutchess_III You can’t repeat a post, you have to change something.

6rant6's avatar

@Dutchess_III You can’t repeat a post. You have to change some thing.

augustlan's avatar

@Dutchess_III It appears that @6rant6 is correct. It took my first “No”, but no others.

I had no idea this was the case. I’m guessing it’s to prevent repeating spam bots. Learn something new every day!

SpatzieLover's avatar

Cool. Learned something new about Fluther today! ;)

Dutchess_III's avatar

Dutchess_III's avatar

@Dutchess_III You can’t repeat a post, you have to change something.

Dutchess_III's avatar

So…why did it keep letting me repeat ”@Dutchess_III You can’t repeat a post, you have to change something”??

Dutchess_III's avatar

Anyway, thank goodness there is an explanation. Ya’ll thought my imagination was running rampant didn’t you! Wait…I don’t have an imagination. I forgot. Sorry. Carry on.

augustlan's avatar

Weird. It won’t let me post two things exactly the same. There must be some difference I’m not seeing in one of @Dutchess_III‘s posts…

SpatzieLover's avatar

She’s a magician @augustlan. I’m certain she’s tricking us ;)

Keep_on_running's avatar

Perhaps it’s only one after another you can’t repeat.

augustlan's avatar

@Keep_on_running I tried that, putting a period in the second post, and omitting it in my attempted third post. No go. :(

Keep_on_running's avatar

That is strange…

Dutchess_III's avatar

Soooo funny that we should discover it in THIS question!

Keep_on_running's avatar

I think I might have just solved it… editing the answer to make it the same as the previous bypasses the automatic deletion. Or did everyone already know that? rofl

Dutchess_III's avatar

Thank you @Keep_on_running. I’ll remember that next time I want to repeat something a bunch of times!

6rant6's avatar

You can post two different answers and then edit the second one to identically match the first.

dude, what the hell happened in here…

Keep_on_running's avatar

^ LOL. Things started spiralling out of control from about this point and we were in no mood to stop it.

6rant6's avatar

That’s what she said.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Oh gawd! I’m sorry! But it was important!

Dutchess_III's avatar

PS…Auggie. And @everyone…when I posted ”@Dutchess_III You can’t repeat a post, you have to change something.” a bunch of times one after the other, I was copying and pasting. Maybe that has something to do with it.

Dutchess_III's avatar

I SAID I was sorry! Get your head put back together!!

augustlan's avatar

We need a mop in the meta aisle!

Dutchess_III's avatar

Well, all I have is a whip. Will that work?

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

After much work, much blood, and many many tears… my husband managed to piece back together most of my head. I think I’m still missing a few pieces but I’m sure no one will notice, seeing as how I’ve never really been “all there” anyway.

Dutchess_III's avatar

Yeah…well. I heard how you crawled in the dryer when you were little, @WillWorkForChocolate, and it took your mom 15 minutes to figure out what that thumping noise was. So…no worries!

WillWorkForChocolate's avatar

How’d you hear about that???? Are you frikkin stalking me? WTF?
