What are you doing for your mom or your memory of your mom? Or is your mom a sore subject?

We are spending the day at my mother-in-laws. Typical Italian Sunday dinner – pasta & yelling.

My mom is MIA. I hope she’s happy whatever she’s doing.

We went out to dinner for Mother’s Day yesterday with my husband’s family. We sent my mother flower’s and I’ll talk to her on the phone later this afternoon.

At my inlaws now in Agoura Hills, CA. At around 11AM we will drive to The Habit burgers grab some burgers, pick up my 89 year old mom in Calabasas, and drive to the board and care to visit my 90 year old dad and have lunch (while monitoring the Clippers game on my wife’s smart phone). Later drive back home to Orange County and maybe catch the last few minutes of the Kings hockey game.

My wife is from Michigan, so I am taking her and the kids to the Oakland A’s/Detroit Tigers game today.
On the way, we will probably stop at the cemetery and put flowers on my Mom’s grave.

My sisters and I are going up to my mom’s house for a cookout with some other family, I’m really excited! :-)

Hang around with my sister and her family, including her three little grandsons, who keep things lively (and noisy).

We’re treating our mothers to and my father-in-law to a fabulous Italian restaurant tonight. Individually though, we bought my mother some new summer weight blouses from her favorite store and we bought his mom a 1hr massage visit.

Unfortunately nothing. My mother died when I was young, my grandmother died 20 years ago and my favorite aunt died about 10 years ago. I have no mother figure left and encourage people that do to love and honor theirs every day, not just on mother’s day.

@Charles

The Nosehair Clippers and Flake Inferior are going down hard, dude, so you should turn off your wife’s phone and totally get into your Mother-in-law’s Day. ;-p

JK- I hope CP3 and Blake have fully recovered from their injuries, and that the Clippers win.

I’m going to write a lot of pages for my race theory paper. That’s all. For me, every day is Mother’s day.

I sent my mom a gardenia plant she can enjoy today and then plant in her garden. I called her already to wish her a grand day. Now it is sit on the deck after a nice brunch with the wife and kids. Gonna hike off the food and take out the boat when the in-laws stop by later. Busy day for sure!

We don’t formally celebrate Mother’s Day as commercialized. However, we do acknowledge it with home made cards.

One year, right after we moved here, my son gave me an orange tree for Mother’s Day because I missed the one from my former house. The tree produces dozens of huge, juicy oranges every year.

My children came around for the morning. Talk and laughter. Doesn’t get better really.

We had my MIL, FIL and BIL to our house for brunch. It was so much nicer than trying to figure out a restaurant to go to. And I love to cook, so that was a bonus for me.

No special plans today except spending some time together, eating leftovers.

The most memorable MD I ever had was when my daughter was 14, and usually doing her best to avoid spending time with me. We spent the day braiding extensions into her hair – took about 12 hours total – and I really got to talk to her in a relaxed, non-confrontational setting. It was great.

I had my preschool grandkids the entire weekend. Their Mom and Dad were at the laundry most of Sunday because their washing machine broke.

I was playing beach ball with the two boys in their room, with two beach balls when I reached for a ball and fell off the bed I was sitting on, right on my head. The youngest started crying, to see Grandma fall on the floor, and the older (5 year old) ran for Grandpa.

I am OK now, but it was a scare. I heard a crack when I landed, and it scared me. I did not loose consciousness, so I was able to talk to the boys and Hubby and let them know I was just going to lie there until I got over being dizzy.

I’m fine now, except for a stiff neck.

I’m glad you are okay @YARNLADY! Sounds like a nasty fall.

Mother’s Day is in February here in Norway. This past Mother’s Day, my 7 year old son needed to go to the doctor, so I had to take him to the clinic at the hospital. Luckily, there was a snow storm, so I could put him on the sled and pull him for the distance the bus didn’t go. He had an infection in his foot and couldn’t walk, but otherwise full of his normal, silliness. I ended up pulling him on the sled right across the city on the way home. It was Sunday and the bus schedule sucks and the snow was coming down like a blizzard. That was it. Little man made me a heart out of clay I made for him when we got home.
My own mother is long dead.
