Are there any ways that I can make money online?

Asked by emeraldisles (1949points) September 25th, 2012

Is there a way for someone who is young, to make money online during this recession? I graduated high school a few months ago, and obviously have not had any success in obtaining a job or even getting called in for an interview. I don’t want to be exploied. However, I am really desperate and if any of you have read any other questions I have posted you know about my family and situation. I work hard. One of the reasons I didn’t work during high school, was because I just wanted to learn. Also, no one was hiring then either. I have basic computer skills. I can type, look things up, use powerpoint, use Word, can send emails etc .Additionally, I have tried these survey websites and they don’t send you anything. All they want you to do is download to your laptop, which leaves a virus. I would like to be able to make money and go to school.

There are so many scams in this area of endeavour, but just the other day I ran across some things that actually seem viable. Ten Realistic Ways to Make Money Online

By the way, I meant to write exploited. I have a sticky key. Avengelo, I have been doing that for a while and all it led to was me getting viruses on my computer because of the stuff they want downloaded.. I have already got 2 cards, that supposedly have money on them , that have to be activated.

@emeraldisles I recommend setting up visitor tracking as soon as possible. Google analytics is okay, but I prefer get clicky.

In the past year or so I’ve made like $120 doing surveys on mturk.com ... It’s through amazon, you can buy stuff with your earnings or deposit it to paypal, or your bank account. I can usually make a dollar or more a day pretty easily.

but I doubt this would suffice as a “job”

You could freelance on places like fiverr.com, oDesk, freelancewriting.com and prizes.org.

You could take awesome photos, upload them to flickr and sometimes Getty images will buy good images. You could sell crafts and such on etsy.com.

A google blog won’t really do anything for you…. unless you’re using it to sell a product, but there’s better avenues for that.

With the skills you listed I can’t really help other than to say maybe farm gold and rare items in MMORPGs. However the pay will be real low.

Yeah the situation looks blek. But I love writing and taking pictures, so I should check the free lance thing out.

You just can’t beat a real job for getting the bills paid. Seriously. I’ve checked out a ton of online opps in my time, and I don’t have anything good to say about it. I too love to write and do photos. My book on Amazon has been tucked away on some back shelf, and my photos have earned me less than $20 in the last 3 years. However, I must say that Lulu makes self-publishing easy.
