Can anyone help me find this Bill Clinton Speech?

Asked by serenityNOW (3643points) January 8th, 2013

Bill Clinton once gave a speech, near the end of his presidency, if I recall correctly. He said something along the lines of: “Research shows DNA of all humans is 99% the same. We should embrace the 1% that’s different.” It was very down to earth, humble, and again, if I recall correctly, poignant and emotional. I want to use some of it as a blog post. Thanks!

Remarks Made by the President…on the Completion of the First Survey of the Entire Human Genome Project:

“After all, I believe one of the great truths to emerge from this triumphant expedition inside the human genome is that in genetic terms, all human beings, regardless of race, are more than 99.9 percent the same.

“What that means is that modern science has confirmed what we first learned from ancient fates. The most important fact of life on this Earth is our common humanity.

Wow, amazing how my brain embellished and changed that one! Neat, though. @jaytkay – Thanks!

Really stupid when you think about it. Why not embrace the 99% that is the same?

I guess that is what you get at Georgetown tuition rates.

@josie So I take it you didn’t read either @jaytkay‘s post or his link?
