I do. They’re a lot of fun. It’s not really about the move though (as the sound and projection quality are iffy), it’s more the experience. I feel the same way about going to sporting events.

There’s still one operating in Mendon, MA we go to a couple times a year.

Growing up in the 70s, there were two within walking distance from my house. Saw Star Wars when it opened at one of them.

@cookieman I’ve never been to one, and I’m not sure if I would like it. I consider myself a film buff, so for me, it would be an irritating experience lol. But I guess it would be fun going to see a movie that I don’t necessarily care about with a bunch of friends.

I’m hopeful that we’ll be able to have date nights this summer at the drive in with the little one sleeping in his car seat.

It’s not bad… depending on the weather and the people around you. The last time we went wasn’t great – it was very muggy and buggy and the people next to us were smoking pot with their windows down. We rolled up our windows and turned on the fan, but killed the car battery. The movie wasn’t even all that great.

I did when I was a randy young elephant but today I prefer my big screen TV at home. Besides, I don’t know if any drive-in theaters still exist in my area.

I haven’t been to a drive in theater in about 35 years. To be honest they weren’t a very good place to see a movie. The sound was the shits, the car could be uncomfortable, popcorn got all over the place.

There were two advantages to drive-ins: you could fool around with someone (but really, a bedroom was a lot better) and you could drink while watching the movie with your buds. Beyond that, there wasn’t much justification. Yeah, sure,if you couldn’t get a sitter, but then it was just killing time because there wasn’t anything parents could do in a car with the kid(s) there that they couldn’t do at home.

I do, but I have not seen one since I was a young teenager. Would be nice to go to one again

Love them! Haven’t been in years but there’s one in the small town in Upstate NY I grew up in. If any of you live in Upstate NY check out these two in Palatine Bridge and Broadalbin, NY. Owned by the same people I think.

I have fond memories. I had a friend who lived near one and have fond memories of watching Empire Strikes Back on her roof. The sound quality was really weird because it was far away and being projected by several dozen crappy speakers inside cars.

I went to one for the first time recently. It was pretty fun. I felt less guilty stuffing my face with goodies in the privacy of our truck rather than surrounded by people in a movie theater. We saw the Jackie Robinson movie, which was surprisingly good, and the new Oz movie, which was surprisingly not.

OF COURSE! Man, I wish they were still a thing. Did you know New Jersey started them? :D

I went to one when I was younger in Cape Cod, MA.

I didn’t go to many as a kid in the 70s, but I went to one ~4 years ago, and it was OK. Instead of the window-mounted speaker, you now tune your radio to a specific station and the sound is better. But if I’m paying to see a flick in the theaters, it’s usually an effects film, so I want the IMAX experience. Most other movies we watch in the comfort of our home.
