Sponsoring a Nanny from the Philippines?

Asked by MarkGauss (4points) August 8th, 2013

Hi everyone, I am trying to bring a nanny from the Philippines to look after my two children. I have run into some snags when it comes to my sponsorship of her. Any advice on the quickest way to go through this process?

Get her married by a citizen of your country ;)

Is she part of an organization that offers this service such as this one http://www.aupair.com/ ? Or did you just find her in an ad somewhere? If it was an organization, I’d talk to them and see what they say.

It depends which Country you are from…. In Canada the ‘Live-in Caregiver’ Program is typically the category used by most nannies (or other care workers). In the US they have the ‘Au Pair’ exchange program which under the J-1 visa category.
What type of snags are you encountering?
I have seen some things in the news lately regarding the Canadian Caregiver Program that might be causing some snags (if you are writing from Canada!!).

I just did a quick search and found a couple articles…

You can check out this site – http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/work/caregiver/ or if you are looking for a Canadian immigration expert to help you out, there is also this site – http://2vancouver.com/.

Good luck,
