Is Dinesh D'Souza being persecuted for being a conservative?

Asked by DominicX (28762points) January 24th, 2014

Conservative commentator Dinesh D’Souza is in the news lately on fraud charges in regard to senatorial campaign fraud.

But conservatives are claiming that these fraud charges are just a front to imprison critics of Obama.

Is there any validity to this claim? I’m actually asking. I don’t know—I don’t know much about D’Souza or previous attacks against conservative critics of Obama. For those of you who know more, what do you think of his arrest?

I’m not sure I have enough information to say one way or the other frankly.

Sounds like he was rounding up people to use their names to front illegal donations. That’s against the law.

Tough to say. But if it turned out to be so, I would not be surprised.

They are just projecting.
Because this is what conservatives would do if they were in power.

Well, they aren’t a “front” because he actually violated the law; he’s not denying the charges. I’m sure as a member of a political party that espouses personal responsibility as an ironclad GOP virtue, he will man up. He did the crime, he’ll do the time.

Have you seen any proof/citation that he is being targeted because he is a conservative? the man was indicted by a federal grand jury for violations of campaign finance laws. if he is innocent he should walk but if he is found guilty of violating campaign finance laws he should go to jail.

it is also once again deliciously ironic that the party of “personal responsibilty”, instead of having this guy take personal responsibility, are immediately blaming obama

@KNOWITALL Is it that cold in Missouri?

If you’re going to sling mud, then you should not be surprised to find yourself “looked at”. This being the case, we’ll just have to wait and see if there’s any merit to the prosecution (or persecution).
