Whatever happened to Andrés Cantor?

Asked by 2davidc8 (10189points) July 7th, 2014

I’ve been watching the soccer World Cup in Spanish. Seems a lot more exciting in Spanish. The play-by-play and commentaries are more detailed and sound rapid-fire (hence, more exciting) because of greater preponderance of multi-syllabic words in Spanish.

Also, there are many ways to say the same thing, and the broadcasters/commentators use all of them. For example, the goalkeeper is at once “el portero”, “el arquero”, “el guardameta”, “el guardavalla”, and “el cancerbero”.

But I haven’t heard Andrés Cantor and his wonderful cries of “gooooooooooooooooool” yet. Whatever happened to him? Is he not calling the games anymore?

He is on radio, not television. He broke from Univision to a deal with Telemundo. ANd, he is covering the World Cup.

Maybe you could watch the TV with the sound off, and listen to the radio.

Thanks, @zenvelo. I’ll check the Telemundo website to see if there is a local affiliate!!
