As the Trump trainwreck rumbles on apace, we now find the Donald LEADING in the polls. Isn't it sort of creepy that so many of us don't get the joke?

I mean I’m certainly no fan of the conservative movement in this country, but even I recognize the need for a rational opposition to what passes for the left these days.

It’s as though he’s out to DELIBERATELY illustrate the absurdities which render his party the laughing stock it has become. Is it possible?

What’s to become of the people who CAN walk and chew gum stranded in the Republican party?

They use be very sad.

Hillary is basically a Republican (with the exception of some socially liberal areas like gay marriage), everything to the right of her is out of touch with reality. I blame Fox News for legitimizing batshit insane viewpoints and enabling the Republican party/base to leap off the cliff of rational thought into a circular logic echo chamber quagmire.

But are all the people who like Trump just buying the Fox Kool- Aid?

My tongue wants to fly off it’s rollers if I say Fox and news together, and I never watch it, but are they backing Trump?

On the other hand, there’s something to be said for a politician not “beholdin” to anyone. The Kochs are VERY unhappy about that!

@Adirondackwannabe I don’t think Fox News is backing Trump right now (I’m sure that would change if he won the primary). The point is they create a bubble where people can feel like their viewpoints are legitimate, even if they’re crazy. Don’t want to believe that Global Climate Change is real? you don’t have to, the entire Scientific community is engaged in a secret plot to mislead the global public. Want to believe that tax cuts for the rich lead to prosperity for the poor/middle-class and pay for themselves in the budget through Voodoo economics? We’ll find “experts” who will confirm that for you (we’ll conveniently ignore Kansas that is proof that this theory is bullshit). Want to believe that Mexicans are the cause of all of our problems? We’ll feed you a diet of “experts” that confirm your beliefs, and won’t challenge your assumptions with evidence/facts to the contrary…

I could go on for pages, but you get the idea. It creates a worldview where the crazies can feel justified in their beliefs/worldview without having to face contrary evidence. In that environment, nut jobs like Trump (or Sarah Palin) can be very appealing.

@gorillapaws Thanks, I found the same experience when I watched them the first time so I completely avoid their news.

Personally, I watch Fox quite a bit. My grandmother used to say “if there’s a snake in your house, you want to know what it’s doing”.

The joke was to believe any one in the party of Twiddle Dee or Twiddle Dumb actually did anything.

@gorillapaws Excellent skewering of Faux (oops, Fox) News.

If Trump does not get the nomination, I would not be surprised if Fox News became the new network host for his The Apprentice.

Said it before & i’ll keep on saying it, America & Trump deserve each other.
