What is your favorite sports team?

San Francisco Giants. Since 1962 when they went to the World Series and had a star that was the best player ever- Willie Mays.

Oakland Raiders. I’m not from Cali. I played pee wee league football as a Raider, starting when I was 8. I would never dawn any other colors.

We’ve been shitty since 2002, but went 12–4 last year. We would probably have done better if our QB didn’t get injured.

The team is moving to Las Vegas. I hope they bring a trophy to Oakland, on the way out.

Boston Red Sox. I was born and raised that way, and I remain faithful. I haven’t lived locally in many years but, thanks to the wonder of the Extra Innings cable service, I seldom miss a game.

Either you love ‘em or you hate ‘em, my favorite sports team is the NY Yankees. I bleed blue, baby.

Back in the 80s I went with a bunch of guys to a game at Yankee Stadium. We had good box-seats on the third base side.

A young couple a few rows in front of us were snuggling and petting each other even before the game started. We put in $20.00 a man and bet on how long they could make it before leaving.

I won, having guessed the top of the 6th inning.

(Man, I love sports….)

None. I am not a sports fan at all.

And chess isn’t not really a team game, but my favorite (active) players are Fabiano Caruana, Vishy Anand, Tatev Abrahamyan, Levon Aronian and Vladimir Kramnik.

Aside from that I don’t really give much thought to any other sports.

I don’t care much about baseball (or any other sport) but several times a week find myself checking stats in the paper to see how Jonathan Lucroy (a very good catcher for the Texas Rangers) is doing.

About two years ago I met his mother at the airport while we both waited for people at the Arrivals Gate. This is such a lovely woman that I now find myself compelled to root for her son….
