What's great in your life today?

Asked by SQUEEKY2 (23122points) March 7th, 2018

As humans we seem to complain about everything, so for this question lets look on the bright side.
So what is great in your life today?
We will continue to bitch about everything else tomorrow.

To crush my enemies, to see them driven before me, and to hear the lamentations of their women.

The fuzzy dog is warm and cuddly on this cold stormy day.
The tea is hot, the soup is simmering on the stove, we still have power.
This is all good.

I am watching my 11 y.o. grandson for a few weeks. His mom is in the hospital in Colorado but things seem to be going well. He seems happy.
The sun is shining and it is wonderful to be sitting out on the porch, in the sun.
My surgery went well and the healing process is great. I am off the scooter and the crutches and can walk about in the inflatable cast now.
Only downside is I miss my wife who had to stay in town but I will see her tomorrow so that is a plus.

the wife has pretty much recovered from the flu and thus is able to resume the customary berating of me for my many faults. My spark plug whirlwind of a niece returned to Iowa after thoroughly wearing me out with local adventures. She is bound and determined to move herself and husband in with us, but I resisted successfully (this time) on the valid claim that her bubbling energy would kill me off within a month. Time now to go upstairs for a dose of nagging. It’s funny how comforting familiar things can be. She’s settling in and turned on the furnace. Time to get cozy in the glow of gentle admonishment. God’s in His heaven…....

I have three newborn baby parakeets that are adorable. My first time as a decade long bird owner to have babies, pretty interesting.

I don’t hang around with crabby people.

I quit the bad client/job that was sucking the drive out of my days and now I’m back to learning and building new stuff. It’s nice.

Actually had an iced tea and sat in the sun with my wife for maybe 20 minutes today, which is some sort of record. I’ll take it.

My kiddos are great, but I know you don’t want to hear about them ;)

I’m no longer homeless. I found a great little house,in a nice neighborhood. It needs lots of work, but so do most old houses around the area. As I am renting, I’ll just be adding some interior paint.

My fishing season is right around the corner. I will be living closer to a river I’ve never fished, so I’m going to have some new places to explore in my canoe.

I have had trouble finding work as a bartender, but I think it’s a matter of time. Then I won’t be in such a violent profession anymore. Looking forward to that…

Winter here seems to be on the way out, our local golf course is going to reopen after shutting down last year, and Mrs Squeeky is still the best thing that has ever happened to me.

I don’t have friends, so no drama in my life.

SQUEEKY2's avatar

AW, @AshlynM are we not your friends?^

@AshlynM Mom always says “If you have none to make you cry, you’ll have none to make you laugh”.

She is talking about kids but the principle is the same.

janbb's avatar

@rojo I like that!

Planning a move and very excited for new opportunities.

^That’s the mindset. There’s a reason that rear view mirrors are so small .

Y’all are going to do great.

Thank you, MrGrimm :)

I am the youth director for a small youth class at my church
and these kiddos give me the greatest pleasure. I love seeing
our youth praising the Lord and realizing that God is not dead
and they have someone they can totally trust in this world.
I play a big part in their lives as they call me with relationship
problems etc..most are 12–16 and that is a hard age. I am 60
and raised two sons so I know a little and remember how hard
it was at times during my own teenage years..I can only image
what some of these kiddos worry about these day but they need me
and I need them (I am an empty nester) so perfect fit!
