Do they make anything that will convert a WIRED rear speaker into wireless?

Asked by Mr_M (7621points) August 27th, 2008

I have a SONY 5.1 Surround Sound set up and the wires to the rear speakers are in the way. Do they make wireless adaptors for rear speakers to convert them to wireless?

Sort of. You would need a separate, stereo amplifier for the rear speakers, plus a wireless transmitter/receiver, such as this model:

which will also send and receive NTSC baseband video. However, you would save a lot of money just by trying to hide the wires a little better. The rear speakers don’t draw a lot of power, so you can get by with a single, 4-conductor telephone cable run along the baseboards. That’s how I set up my SS system.
