How did Epstein get all that money?

Asked by Yellowdog (12216points) August 12th, 2019

The hedonistic, orgiastic, ultimate luciferian lifestyle of insurmountable money, lavish settings, perversion, and totally untouchable by law until now—this is the stuff of conspiracy theories and plausible historic fiction.

Epstein owned an island dubbed “pedophile island.” He owned and maintained lavish buildings for his associates and underage massage girls and sex slaves. He owned old world New York townhomes worth over 70 million. He hobnobbed regularly with the rich and famous, even presidents and world leaders.

Yet Epstein never worked any job or invested in anything.

This is the kind of stuff of erotic fantasy thrillers and Illuminati conspiracy theories.

But since it is reality, So, where did all his money come from, why was he untouchable for so many decades, and how did he lose this privilege of total non-accountability?

Did you ask Google?
He was untouchable because he had all that money.

No, I thought I asked Fluther.

Well to answer you we’d have to Google. Which I did. He started out in finance and just went from there. I’m sure most of what he did was illegal but very profitable.

Probably evaded paying taxes?
Had numerous tax breaks as most rich do have to get under the wire.
Properties garnered bigger assets that convert to $.

He was asking how he got rich in the first place, I think.

@Dutchess_III
There should be records of that somewhere buried so far down that it would take years to locate?

Epstein began his career in finance at the investment bank Bear Stearns, before forming his own firm, J. Epstein & Co”

“Epstein was born in 1953, in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, to Jewish parents[13][14] Pauline (née Stolofsky, 1918–2004)[15] and Seymour G. Epstein (1916–1991).[16] His parents were married in 1952, shortly before his birth.[16] Pauline worked as a school aide and was a homemaker.[16][17] Seymour Epstein worked for the New York City Department of Parks and Recreation as a groundskeeper and gardener.” Obviously wasn’t born into a rich family.

“Epstein started working after the summer of 1974 as a physics and mathematics teacher at the Dalton School in the Upper East Side of Manhattan”

“Greenberg, impressed with Epstein’s intelligence and drive for financial success, offered him a job at Bear Stearns [which was a a New York-based global investment bank, securities trading and brokerage firm.[19][28]]” <<< And that’s where it started. Not buried so deep. But what he did financially after he hired on is certainly buried deep.

The movies Bonfire of the Vanities, Wall Street, The Wizard of Lies and The Big Short might give some perspective on the “money begets money” world Eipstein operated.

Very few good and decent people ever get filthy rich. But some do, like Bill Gates and the Obamas.

mazingerz88's avatar

^^I still don’t consider the Obamas filthy rich. Gates though, one of the “filthiest.” Lol

He was one of the first hedge fund managers. Add sex and yachts and the Virgin Islands to his good rate of return, and he was able to attract a lot of investors.

Accusations have come out that he stole a lot of the money he was entrusted with. The Victoria Secrets billionaire claimed last week Epstein swiped a hundred million off him.

I find his timeline interesting.
He boomed during the eighties and nineties, was caught and extinguised in 2019.

I would like to know who did that suicide for us. He saved the taxpayers a lot of money. I would like to send him a carton of smokes.
