Do you know a good cookie recipe for traveling?

Asked by RayaHope (7448points) September 8th, 2022

I figured I’d take something to munch on for our trip to Florida. If it is okay with the TSA, if not maybe I can bribe them with said cookies :)

How about brownies or shortbread?

RayaHope's avatar

As long as they don’t crumble all over the place :)

Cookies? Did someone say Cookies?!? Now you have my attention.
Peanut Butter cookies are rated to best for travel.
Next is Ginger Snaps as they don’t break followed by molasses.
Oatmeal raisin will make you feel like you are eating healthy. Forget the Chocolate Chip ones as they are overrated.
Do you want small batch or large batch recipe. I will start baking now.
nom nom!

For traveling, I prefer Oatmeal Raisin!!! Oatmeal cookies do crumble badly; however, by adding the raisins you get a moist cookie that doesn’t crumble.

@Forever_Free Great choices :) bake enough for me and my mom :) we are light eaters but a few extra will be appreciated:D
@LadyMarissa Add a bunch of molasses and it might work :)

Oatmeal and/or chocolate chip are both good for traveling.

Well, as long as you eat the chocolate chip ones before you get to Florida and get them too warm.

RayaHope's avatar

@Zaku We’re about the same temp as Florida but I will put them in a cold bag.

I vote for peanut butter cookies.

I love peanut butter cookies, but they tend to crumble more often than not.

How long will the trip take?

Zaku's avatar

By the way, taking a good amount of food on airplane trips tends to make them much more bearable, and/or significantly less expensive.

RayaHope's avatar

@Dutchess_III Four days unless there is some complication. Just having some tests and stuff and maybe trying something new.

TSA is fine with food. It’s liquids more than 3oz that they don’t like. I would bring something that’s neat to eat – minimal crumbs, minimal gooeyness. Gotta be nice to the cleanup crew.

I’ve never seen a recipe that would transport you from one place to another.

@LOL! Oh, you little smarty pants! I had to go back and reread my question but I soon got it! You’re one smart cookie! (see what I did there) :D

Dutchess_III's avatar

I.mean how long is the plane flight?

RayaHope's avatar

Oh, @Dutchess_III only about two and a half hours, but you never know how long you’ll be in the airport or sitting on the tarmac or if there will be a delay or something.

RocketGuy's avatar

BTW, TSA doesn’t like those frozen gel packs. If the packs thaw, TSA will consider them to be liquids and apply the 3oz limit to them.

RayaHope's avatar

@RocketGuy Oh that is good to know, thank you. I was thinking of a gel pack or similar thing.

Chocolate chip. Can’t beat ‘em with a stick. Homemade that is. Not the packaged kind.
