Why do you stay up too late?

Asked by longgone (19541points) January 14th, 2023

Can you help me find my way into bed?

I went to see a show with my husband earlier. “West Side Story”, very talented American actors on a tour of Europe. Singing that just reaches all the way inside your body. It was incredible. I’m all inspired and riled up. But it’s way past my bedtime.

Do you also struggle settling down when you’ve been out? What stops you from going to bed?

It’s quiet and my brain is very active at night. It’s my preferred time for getting stuff done because I can focus without distractions.

I am free to go about my day without interruptions, or distractions. Also the internet is faster at night.

If you want to go to sleep at night then stop consuming caffeine and sugar hours before going to bed Taking a warm shower or bath one hour before going to bed.

We stayed up late last night playing Monopoly, didn’t get to bed until close to 9:30. Slept fine, and late. Didn’t get up until 6:00 am.

@longgone I have the same problem. I stayed up last week til 12 to watch a movie and couldn’t fall asleep til 3! No good solutions here; I’m an insomniac.

I fall asleep very quickly most every night at about the same time. I think it helps if you are very active during the day. Lots of exercise will tire you out for a good nights rest.

I’m horrible about that. I’ll stay up reading until 2, 3, or 4….and have to be at work at 8.

When I’m trying to stay up late to watch a movie or read I always get drowsy. As soon as I get in bed I’m wide awake. Go figure.
