What are your hopes for your life in 2024?

Asked by Hawaii_Jake (37352points) December 28th, 2023

I’m hoping for more togetherness with my partner, good health, the time to read some really good LGBTQ books, good things in my professional life, some good time to play and enjoy myself, to hear some really good music, and for good news from my children.

It’s not a lot, and I’m sure I’m leaving out important things.

Please share with us what you’re hoping for in the new year for yourself.

We all know it’s an election year in the US. I’m hoping we can leave that aside for this question. Let’s talk about personal matters.

I’m focused on learning French.
Paying off debts.
Eating more fruits and vegetables.

@RedDeerGuy1 are you just starting off? If so, I really liked Duolingo when I was trying to learn Ukrainian.

For me, I need to figure out what my living situation is going to be, although the issue won’t really come up for another two to three years. As always, I have tons of books I want to read and for the first time in I don’t know how many years, I’m planning to do some craft shows, hopefully successfully, with my new hobby.

Finally, I’m hoping to be able to maintain my health. I have stage 4 kidney disease but if I’m careful, hopefully I won’t have to go on dialysis anytime soon so that’s definitely a goal. This year I started walking more so I plan to continue that as well, which of course always helps maintain one’s health.

@LifeQuestioner I have a 275 day streak with Doulingo French. I will see if I can make 365 days.

More time with my kids both abroad and on the left coast. Continued inner peace and self-confidence. Health for me and my aging friends. Books are a no-brainer.

I’m hoping for continued good health, continued good health for my family and friends, continued financial stability, my daughter to continue to do well in school and strive for the best, to declutter and organize my house better, and maybe a nice vacation trip or two.

@RedDeerGuy1 that’s great! I went all the way through their program for Ukrainian, that’s with the deluxe edition, but after that I wasn’t sure where to continue and sadly, I’ve let a lot of it lapse.

To have a nice holiday with my wife.
To visit my children and grandchildren regularly and watch them grow.
To cycle to Loch Lomond and back at least one.
To make it to 2025.

I am planning to retire in April, so the year ahead could be filled with changes. I have lived in the town I am in right now since 1989, but it is expensive. I hope to be settled for the long term by this time next year.

Hoping my health gets better, or not worse anyway.

Hoping my two friends with very deadly cancers stay at bay.

Hoping I get to continue to dance every day.

Hoping my SIL figures out that whatever she is giving me the cold shoulder about, that she is wrong. I feel fairly confident she is wrong whatever it is. She likes to think the worst of people and usually has her “facts” screwed up.

Hoping to buy a big garage.

Hoping my husband chills out a little.

Travel. Haven’t traveled to Europe yet not once. Paris, Venice, Rome, Florence…long time dream of mine to see these places. In Asia, it’s Japan.

I hope my daughter continues to do well in school while learning to relax and enjoy life more.

I hope my wife achieves some level of stability and peace in all areas of her life.

I hope my dogs remain healthy and joyful.

For myself, I hope to spend more quiet time with my wife and to become better at that which I fear.

I want my mother to get better. She’s been in the ICU for the last week.

janbb's avatar

@Entropy I hope she will!

cookieman's avatar

@Entropy: I’m sorry to hear that. I hope she recovers fully.
