If King Charles dies, what would Camilla's title be?

Asked by filmfann (52242points) 3 months ago

With Chuckles being diagnosed with cancer, questions arise.
She wouldn’t be Queen, but Queen Mother isn’t accurate, or really acceptable.
Queen Stepmother doesn’t seen dignified.
Does she go back to Her Vile Ho-bag?

I remember that people thought she looked like a horse, so probably Queen Equestria.

She would probably return to being Duchess of Cornwall. But it is really up to the next monarch,
William might just relegate her to retirement with no title.

I think it’ll be up to King William, but she technically becomes a dowager queen.

I think there’s a cell in a tower somewhere where she’ll live out her days looking sorrowfully out through the bars of her window while spinning wool into yarn.

If memory serves, when Charles dies, William becomes King, Camilla goes back to being a Duchess assuming that she’s still alive, & Catherine becomes Queen Catherine.

@LadyMarissa I just googled it and Kate would not become Queen Catherine, she’d become Queen Consort.

@zenvelo I feel like William would not take her titles away because he knows that’s not what his father would have wanted. He would let her keep whatever titles she’s entitled to (pardon the pun) out of respect for his father.

Just a guess, of course, as nobody knows for sure.

I used to dislike her but now, after learning the story a bit more, about how Charles’ marriage to Diana was manipulated by the family, I feel like it was tragic for all three of them.

I feel like the majority of the family has come to like her, because let’s face it, she’s been around for decades, waiting in the wings.

And Harry just went to be with his father, so I feel like it’s in the late stages of cancer. So this may be quicker than expected.
I, too, used to dislike her, but I really think she is more like Charles than Diana was. They were very mismatched.

I thought about that yesterday and have no answer. I will be interested to know how that plays. It seems the royals are being supremely tested in the last few years. I don’t keep up but just by the ‘news’ that comes my way, it seems so.

Queen Dowager. This is the title of a widowed queen. She will retain that title until death and remain part of the royal clan. Queen Consort will become the title of Kate when and if William becomes King. I just read this.

@SnipSnip I wrote that above (about Kate).

I read on the web it would be dowager queen because it just means widow of the King. She would not be Queen Mother because she isn’t Williams’s actual mother. Queen Mother is reserved for women who gave birth to the reigning king or queen. Queen Elizabeth’s mom was Queen Mother.
