Why does lil wayne's eyelid tattoos say "fear God"?

Asked by jdogg (871points) November 24th, 2008 from iPhone

My only guess is that because of all of his songs have to do with blowing money and having sex and lollipops(I have a grudge against them) that maybe he is against religion or God but then again why would he put “God” capitalized if he is against God.. I’m confused!

How would we know? we aren’t him?

Basically Fear God. Have fear in Him.

Magnus's avatar

On an unrelated note, Lil Wayne is the worst thing to ever happen to hip hop.

shilolo's avatar

Because his eyes are too small to say “Fear Rumpelstiltskin”.

AstroChuck's avatar

I guess she wants to tell us to fear God.

@magnus

Isn’t that title reserved for SouljaBoy?

AstroChuck's avatar

Edit: he wants.

It’s just one of his many tattoos that probably seemed cool to him at the time, but really doesn’t make sense for him to have.

bodyhead's avatar

I’m guessing it’s because he’s read the bible. God is vengeful and terrifying. If lil’ Wayne believes in the Christian God, he’s right to fear him.

chutterhanban's avatar

I don’t know if he is a Christian or not. But just to clarify, a Christian interprets the phrase as “respect God” or “revere God.” Fear of God in the Bible isn’t being afraid of Him. It’s kind of hard to explain, but it’s kind of this intense respect and understanding that He is so much greater and powerful.

Like I said, I don’t know of Li’l Wayne believes it, but that’s what “Fear God” would mean according to a Christian.

If a tidal wave is coming to crash down and kill thousands of people… and I have the power to stop it but I let it happen anyway, you would probably call me evil.

I fear powerful beings that have the power to stop evil things but don’t.

Lil Wayne might fear or revere him. If he exists, I fear him.

Hey, I know I’m confrontational but chutterhanban, I gave you a GA because your answer was probably what the original poster was looking for.

chutterhanban's avatar

ha thanks. i won’t act like your point isn’t something i struggle with. it’s a really tough subject for me because it’s quite obvious that bad things happen all the time and i believe God has the power to stop it. i just wish i could choose what he does and doesn’t stop sometimes. except that would suck, cuz then i would be God. ouch. like i said, it’s a tough topic for me.

what i don’t understand is why because he is a rapper he cant be a Christan 1st off and 2 look it up fear God is IN THE BIBLE who just goes and does that for no reason he is not flippin any one different then any of us he’s human he can believe and that still don’t mean he has to change his passion for his music that’s between him and God and any way would any of you just put FEAR GOD any place on your body look I’m saying that there are things that point he believes and not every person who has that relationship with God acts or does every thing the same…

Galatians 2:20
I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

that’s at the end of one of his songs and some one is in it to i just cant remember who so any way lets put it in a nut shell
it is between him and God !!!
and we are all people and we are all the same and not one person even if ur life is the best life ON EARTH not one of us is or can be perfect but Jesus

I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

chutterhanban's avatar

who are you responding to? i don’t think anyone said he can’t be a Christian because he’s a rapper

wayne_13's avatar

‘fear god’ means 2 things, you should underestimate(sp.) the power of God(its ‘good’ fear) and second, if you were to fear anyone, you should fear God..and somethin random, fuck you babygall! weeezy is the BEST thing that has ever happened to hip hop, hes right he is the best!

missy29's avatar

i think people take the word christian to lightly. to be a christian means to follow Christ, to live a life like he lead, and to glorify God in everything to do. I’m not to judge, because none of us are perfect, but i think it’s safe to say at this point in time that lil wayne and everything he stands for does not represent Christ, nor glorify Him, or resemble the way Christ lived while on earth. The bible says that ” if anyone is in Christ than he is a new creature.” So far, and i’m not saying he hasn’t, i don’t see and pure changes in lil wayne’s lifestyle. But like that guy said…that’s between God and Him.

I will suggest that if “fear God” is tatted on his eye lids, and he obviously doesn’t honor God, then what is written there is actually a message that is intended to misrepresents who God is. Even if he didn’t intend to, he is encouraging people to be literally afraid of GOD, because what lil wayne represents definitely isn’t encouraging people to respect Him. Even satan knows bible verses,( check mattew chapter 4), that doesn’t mean he fears or respects God.
God does not in any way shape or form want us to be afraid of Him. He simply wants our love and respect. In fact the bible says in 1st john 4:8 that God is love. and verse 18 goes on to say that true love casts away all fear. so since God is love and love casts out all fear, then that statement does not mean that we’re suppose to be afraid of God, but simply give Him the honor and respect that He deserves.

bodyhead's avatar

… he obviously doesn’t honor God…

Way to go on that “not judging” other people that Christ wanted us to do.

“Oh, I don’t reject your Christ. I love your Christ. It’s just that so many of you Christians are so unlike your Christ.” -Ghandi

chutterhanban's avatar

@bodyhead… missy29 explained in there that she wasn’t judging. i think if we were to switch two of the words in that phrase, we might grasp what she meant a little better.

he doesn’t obviously honor God

I may be wrong, but that helped me hear the words easier.

bodyhead's avatar

I get your point but of course she said she wasn’t judging.

Racists might say something like the following: I’m not racist but there are far to many honkeys in here.

Does saying that they are not racist make them not racist?

The whole response seemed a little judgy to me. It’s safe to say lil Wanye and everything he stands for does not represent Christ or glorify him? That’s not judging?

benchwarmer's avatar

Ok well to all of you who think he believes in God then he might to a pointay to those who thinks lil wayne believes in God. He might and I’m not judgin him but I’m sure he doesn’t read the Bible. He disses God and if your a believer you shouldn’t be all in the whole rapping thing about drugs and sex and money. If he was a true believer in Christ he would at least sing Christian Rap about how bad sex-(not being married), drugs, and money(greed) is bad not promoting it. So if you yourself thinks he is a Christian then you have it wrong. Thats why people without Christ think Christians are fake cos we got people sayin they are Christians and then they do something that makes God look bad. I’m not saying Christians are perfect cos we’re humans too but our goal as Christians is to be like Christ. Singing bout killin people or drugs sex and money doesn’t please God not one bit. If anyone is at least gonna read this look it up. John 3:16— on google, For God so LOVED the world (people) that He gave His only SON (JESUS died and shed His innocent blood for you) that whoever believes in Him (Christians) shall not die but have everlasting life!!!! Love you all get Christ. Oh and religion is man made. A relationship is what makes you one with GOD!!!!

benchwarmer's avatar

Yes we fear GOd not that God is gonna kill us if we do bad but the Fear of God should be hey God created earth and you and if you don’t have Christ then you will die and go to head. See people think to fear God is that God is gonna hold a gun to your head and force you to believe. You have the choice to follow God or not. So fear God but don’t think He’s gonna force you to believe but when you get saved and grow a relationship with Christ you will become His friend. Yes living a life for Christ who died for all the sins in the world is hard to follow as a sin nature person but when you grow in Christ things are easier. People also think to get saved then you can do whatever you want. Ok if you believe that then thats a wrong mind set. Mark 8:34–35 Jesus told His diciples to Crucify themselves(kill their sins- or stop the urge of things wrong to Christ) take up their crosses(their new life) and follow Him.

stringerj30's avatar

as a Christian that Lil’ Wayne is, he’s supposed to fear God. We should all fear God, as the Bible says.

antonlnd's avatar

It is actually a blasphemy if you think about it. Satanist wear the cross on the soul of their shoes. Lil Wayne is doing this and wearing big diamond crosses at the same time as speaking out against God and talking about sins. He is a pagan satanist and does it also so people think that he is a believer and follower of God.

ababy22's avatar

i dont know about this situation but i will have to agree with some of those anwers. my opinion is if lil wayne dosent beleive in god why in most of lil wayne songs he talks about god it havent listen to variety of his songs and only haerd some dont try and judge the man even though he do rap about sex, money, and other i am gonna agree with the person that saidIt’s just one of his many tattoos that probably seemed cool to him at the time, but really doesn’t make sense for him to have.
and i am christ beleiver and i really love lil wayne another thing most rappers rap about negative things because it is a way of money most people like rap so it really dont matter. look how much lil wayne get high and drunk what do you expect

fabulous13's avatar

Well actually it means fear god which i guess he’s trying to say don’t underestimate god or you should only fear god if but i personally I think god does not punish it is Satan we should fear but thats just what i think.

zakariah's avatar

Maybe it’s because what you all percieve as “god” is actually satan himself. In such a case it would seem to be a correct stance to “fear god”.
