Do people's expectations of you affect your decisions?

I really like to take into consideration the opinions of people I have regard for if my decision is going to affect them in some way. .

People’s expectations probably do affect my decisions more than I’d like to admit. But I did just admit it, didn’t I?

For a long time I based most of my decisions on what others thought of me. As I’ve gotten older, not so much. I made a huge decision recently that I was almost universally upbraided for. I know it was the best decision for me and my family and I am glad I did it. If I had avoided doing it because of what others might think, I would still be in an unhappy, uncomfortable, stagnant place. It was actually quite liberating on many levels.

There’s always a imaginary crowd of peers in our head judging every action we take.

the expectations of my boss affects what and when i do what i do at work.

I do things for myself mostly. But sometimes I say things just to tell people what they want to hear. Mostly at work, just to prevent tension.

People in my life expect me to be a morally strong person. Sometimes that helps me to be a morally stong person.
