Asked by cgborat (1points) January 10th, 2009

We were married in the DR. She has never been to the states…I am currently in the states and wish to seek a divorce…We do have a child together…Can I divorce her here and it be legally recognized in the DR?

You will need to see a family law attorney, but I would think offhand that you will have to divorce her in the Dominican Republic, since that’s where the marriage took place, and she still resides. Not to say that you have to go there to do it. Do you own property there?
