some of the greatest questions are “open ended” have you ever had a great question the has been banned, what was it?

I do not. The mods only remove questions that violate the guidelines. They usually offer the questioner a chance to change the question to meet the guidelines. Read the section on asking great questions to get a feel for the Fluther ethos.

I have yet to see any real gems that have been removed. It might be that I’m only catching the really crappy ones before they get modded. Though I highly doubt that.

I’ve only had one question tapped by the moderators and that was because the question itself was a paragraph long. I had to shorten it and throw everyting else into the details like I should have in the first place. The moderators are the all wise, all knowing gurus of my Fluther existence. I’ve had no banned questions to date either so that is a good thing.

Honestly, I think they do a fine job of monitoring the site and they use good judgement with the decisions they make concerning the material they end up having to moderate.

I had a question removed once. It was a questioned designed to be open-ended and to get folks to use their imaginations. Unfortunately, they reviewed it (which too a week), and then they said I needed to add details. I added a bunch of details that basically were snide comments about the moderating process. They took another week to review that, and finally they said it was approved, although it never appeared on the question list.

By that time, the question was no longer relevant, so I didn’t press the matter. Maybe it’ll become relevant again, and I might try it again.

I think most people know that I try to ask good questions, and often I succeed. This one, while somewhat offbeat, was still good, if you accept the concept of using questions to stimulate the imagination. That’s the one thing about this site that bugs me. It seems like they don’t like things that allow people to exercise their imaginations.

maybe, they could just ban certain users, then they wouldn’t need to ban so many questions…..

@cheebdragon: they do ban users. They really do.

I’ve had a question remain unpublished, even after editing it. and then i asked a question about it and they blocked that question.

Sweet holy moly, I have. Just recently too. Off claims made in this article → and from the bulk of answers I got from my question → on on who would likely not report the crime. The question got kicked. Reworded it to add more details to the just of the question, still have not seen it. It is like that TV commercial where Uverse is telling that girl that her movie was stuck in his craw “Its way in there, I-I don’t know how I am gonna get that thing out”. Just one of what seems like many questions that got lost in the transporter.
