Have recently heard good things about Lenovo, a former IBM brand. But I haven’t serviced campus-loads of PC for over 7 years. A lot changes in that span of time. I Think id you want the look and feel of a MBP, just save coin a while longer and buy an MPB. otherwise you will always kind of think you sold yourself short. And from my personal less than 7 year experience. you wont be disappointed.

Anything in the MacBook price range will be solid and attractive.

Buy a MacBook Pro and use Boot Camp to install Windows on it. It’ll be the best Windows machine you’ve ever used.

If you’re talking about a similar look and feel from a design aspect, there’s this Sony Vaio and others. I haven’t really used them, so I couldn’t tell you how close the build quality matches a MBP. They are a little on the pricey side for a Windows machine, but generally less expensive than a MBP.

If you talking about a machine that has excellent build quality, solid hardware, and can take a beating, I can personally vouch for Lenovo. I’ve had a ThinkPad T61 for about two years and it has been a very solid machine. The design of the ThinkPad’s are more ‘business’ oriented (i.e. utilitarian). They can also be a little on the pricey side, but again usually much less expensive than a MBP.

You might also check this MSI. It really comes down to what you want. There are a lot of solid laptop manufacturers out there, and most have different levels of machines varying at cost, build quality, specs, design, etc.

@se_ven Yeah that Vaio NW series really does look like a MBP.

But for me, my MBP is the best purchase I have made in my whole life. My first laptop for myself was a MBP. I looked around, but the MBP had everything I needed and I knew it was going to last me, so I just bit the bullet and saved up for a long time. I bought it, and have never been happier. Plus, I got it before the unibody ones came out, and I don’t like them, so I’m glad I bought it when I did.

Long story short: save up for a MBP if you really want one. If you can live with another computer that is of good quality, then it’s your choice.

Lenovos are really well built, rock solid machines. They have some really nice designs, including a pull-out 7” screen on their workstation notebooks, and a built-in Wacom tablet. Spill proof, impact resistant, LED screens, rull fange of sizes, fully customizable… They’re tanks! They’re just black and run Windows. If that’s a downer for you, well… You’re out of luck anyway. Go buy a Mac.
