Where can I learn how to break dance online?

Asked by TheCreative (1210points) October 9th, 2009

I’ve been having lots of free time on my hands and I was thinking how I never learned how to break dance. I thought “why not?” Does anyone know any (preferably free or cheap) videos or tutorials on how to break dance for beginners? Thanks, much love.

There seem to be a lot of free options on YouTube

@SpatzieLover Yes I’ve checked Youtube.. check your results again and see why. There aren’t many good videos online.

When I was in high school I learned some of my moves from bboy.com. That was quite a few years ago though, not sure if that site still exists.

I’ve watched lots of breaking, pop n’ lock, liquid, and battles on youtube

This joker is a joker, but he’s got basic, solid moves. Look under “Top 20 Breakdancing Videos”.

And that one kid, David Elsewhere? Daaaaaamn, yo!

Just go on the forums and other parts of the site to learn some basics. Also, watch videos of other people breakdancing on YouTube and such. You could try searching breakdancing or bboy on YouTube, then watch some videos and click on commenters profiles to view their favorite videos. They may have some interesting dancing videos that you may not find just searching ‘breakdancing’ or ‘bboy.’

(Also, I would suggest you do that, practice, maybe learn about the history of breakdancing, and maybe learn about and practice some other dance styles. Learning and practicing other styles can help you learn more about what your body can do and make it easier to learn breakdancing moves if you try to learn moves from other dance styles. It can also help inspire your breakdancing.)
