If you’re on about the German cobbler then yeah I think it’s rumoured he’ll be with Mercedes next year. I’d be glad to see him back if only to see him & Alonso knock each other off smug gits. While Hamilton coasts toward title no. 2.

@ucme, Hehe, contentious!

It has been confirmed he’ll race for Ross Brawn under the new Mercedes GP Petronas (formerly Brawn GP). I remember a recent interview with Ross Brawn where he was asked if Michael Schumaker was ready and his response was he didn’t know and the only person who would is Michael and Michael told him he was ready.

Personally I’m really excited to see him back and despite being 41 years old I still think he’s got a serious shot at winning championships. Racing is so instinctive to him that he’s able to use the rest of his brain for strategy and tactical moves. That said I think he may have a rocky start as he adjusts to the new regulations (mostly the 2009 changes) given the limited driving he’ll get with the testing bans.

@timtrueman…. I’m right with you there. I was always a huge Schumacher fan & his return really spices up the oncoming season. Cant wait to see what Hamilton will do on the track in response.

I love Michael Schumacher, I met him once. I love Formula 1 and bringing Michael back will show kids like Lewis and Jenson (but more Lewis) how to drive. It will be so exciting, I really cannot wait.

@Dibley… Quite right, have you been to Silverstone? Saw from your profile you used to live in Nottingham which isn’t too far (I’m in Northampton incidently)

Yes I have been Silverstone 5 times. The only I saw him win was there. I used to go to testing there as well, and go in the paddock, I was in the Michael Schumacher Fan Club. You don’t have far to go then.

@Dibley… Not far at all – & you’ve just made me green with envy!!! I’ve never actually been on race-day :( Although I did have a brilliant day out courtesy of Maclaren a few years ago. At the time I worked for Mercedes & they treated us to a track day. We weren’t allowed to drive it but were taken around the track in a F1 after thrashing a few Mercs.

@TheJoker That must of been really good. I went Monaco in 2005, I waited and waited for Michael and he signed my hat. That was the best day ever. When I went testing at Silverstone once, Alonso was there and he didn’t want to sign autographs so he picked up about 4 empty boxes, and pretended they were heavy, so he didn’t have to sign. I didn’t rate him at all after that.

@Dibley…. Hahahaha, bloody Alonso. Although considering how tough Spannish blokes are he may not have been pretending :)

Sophief's avatar

@TheJoker Maybe not. I had my taken with DC and Alan Mcnish and Alex Wurz. Christian Albers asked me to dinner, I didn’t go.

TheJoker's avatar

@Dibley…. Now thats damn cool!!!! & turning down Chris too, thats pretty swish. I always rated Wurz, but I guess his height worked against him. So come on then, what was wrong with Albers?

Sophief's avatar

He was young and blonde, plus I was with my then boyfriend.

TheJoker's avatar

@Dibley…. well, you’re hardly old yourself! But good on ya for not stiffin ya bf, cant imagine many others would have done the same.

Sophief's avatar

@TheJoker Ahh, I did leave him for someone else 3 years later! I don’t like younger men, I think Albers just liked me because I have red hair. Although if I had gone, I could of got a Louis Vuitton bag!

TheJoker's avatar

@Dibley…. Hah, in retrospect perhaps the worng decision… I mean, how often do you get the chance to get a Louis Vuitton bag :)
I’m sure it was more than just the hair, striking as it is.

Sophief's avatar

@TheJoker Well I saw him 2 years after that at testing, only in the distance, and he never even recognised me!

TheJoker's avatar

@Dibley…. Charming, but perhaps he was still bitter after your rejection :)

Sophief's avatar

@TheJoker Well I’m not sure if he was serious, he was with all his time and he just turned round, smiled, so I took his picture and he just said “you want to join us for dinner tonight”, I went bright red, said no thank you and ran.

@Dibley… Nothing like being put on the spot is there :)
