After 44 years of being married to the same nice lady, you would think i would be use to her cold feet, right? not! i love her dearly, but i have never gotten use to her cold feet. they are like ten ice cubes moving around under the cover. are cold feet grounds for a divorce?

Before you ask for a divorce, why not just suggest that she wear some socks to bed?

deepdivercwa55m's avatar

tell her to wear socks mate!!

wow, I hope not if so I’m in serious trouble. Give her a pair of fuzzy socks as a gift or even try a bed warmer placed on her side where her feet will be. If they’re so cold as to bother her, tell her to soak them in warm water while standing for a bit just before bed.

If her feet offend thee, pluck them off and cast them from thee.

Heating pad. One that shuts off automatically.

My heated mattress pad makes my feet get warmer faster. Also get her some of those cozy woolly house slippers to wear around the house before she goes to bed.

Pluck them off?

jbfletcherfan's avatar

All good suggestions. I was going to say socks, too. The warm, fuzzy ones.

Get her a separate bed.
If youre married that long, youre probably not having sex anyway.

It’s so much more fun to stick your cold feet on someone than to wear socks to bed! My husband hates it though, so I usually wear socks to bed when it’s cold. I somehow manage to kick them off during the night, but by then my toes are warmed up and my husband doesn’t have to suffer.

When was her last physical checkup? The reason that I’m asking is that poor circulation is one of the symptoms of diabetes, and extremities can be lost because of that.

You may not have to “pluck” them, in that case. If she has complications from diabetes, the doctor will take them off for you.

I’m like your wife. My feet can be icebergs but my husband doesn’t mind since he runs hot. However this Xmas my mom got me really soft fluffy socks that are easy to slip on and slip off. I never like wearing regular socks because if my feet got to hot I would have to struggle half asleep to pull them off. These socks are really easy to just push off with the other foot and also come off when I move in my sleep. By then my feet are all warmed up anyway. I absolutely love them.

@john65pennington Don’t you read the Bible?

Socks!

Heehee! It’s such a funny word!

Tell her that her feet are too cold and she needs to keep them away from you, unless she finds a way to warm them up. Hopefully that won’t involve putting them somewhere which may be quite painful for you.

john65pennington's avatar

HEY, who said two beds and no sex? i said her FEET were cold and nothing else.

Judi's avatar

@chris6137 ; Don’t you know that we get better with practice?

SarasWhimsy's avatar

Why not try giving her a nice foot rub with some lotion and oil before bed and end with putting some nice fuzzy socks on her feet?

stratman37's avatar

Tell her to keep ‘em on her side of the bed. If she won’t do that, YOU start wearing golf shoes to bed and see how she likes it!

Socks
Heating pad
One of those things you put in the microwave to warm up and soothe sore muscles (personal favorite because you can twist your toes up in it)

ChocolateReigns's avatar

I would say a heating pad. Especially if you lay awake at night for a while reading or watching TV, because then right before you go to bed you unplug it and her feet are warm and so are the sheets!

I thought everyone on earth wore socks in bed in the winter. Hell, I live in southern California and I do that. I can’t imagine you people on the east with your “weather” not doing that.

jbfletcherfan's avatar

@Sarcasm It depends on the house with me. When we lived in Texas, I wore socks in the winter. But here in the snow with temps down below 0 at night, I’m just in unders, a t-shirt & no socks, as this house is very warm. (& so’s my bed :D).

LeopardGecko's avatar

The only reasonable option you have, is to buy ( link ) heat packs and industrial grade duct tape them to her feet. If she complains, put your untaped foot down, reminding her that she knew the job before she put on the ring.

mass_pike4's avatar

haha. Rub her torso back and forth. Her feel will get better circulation. If this doesn’t help, make her wear socks. Afterall, wearing socks makes you live longer (I made that up, but hey it could work).

tekn0lust's avatar

I cured this with one of those rice filled heating pads. I warm it up in the micro before bed and put under the covers. Works wonders.

La_chica_gomela's avatar

Tim puts a hot water bottle like this in bed with my feet when they’re cold. It’s really toasty and nice.

janbb's avatar

My cold feet at night make it hard for me to get to sleep, let alone my husband. My solution is to take a hot bath pretty much every night before getting into bed all nice and toasty warm.

Eureka's avatar

@chris6137 – if you only knew!

Anyway, I sugest a heating pad in the foot of the bed.

susanc's avatar

Second @tenkn0lust’s suggestion. I have a homemade “pillow” about 10×5” filled with
flax seeds which smell cozy and vaguely bakeryish when you heat them. 5 minutes in the micro and they stay very warm for about an hour. After than my (cold) feet stay warm all night because they’re inside the bed, while the heater pillow cools off, which is what you want, so that you don’t bump into a hot thing while you’re dreaming and have confusion. Really. These are perfect. And they don’t involve bringing an electric cord into bed with you.

AnonymousWoman's avatar

Why don’t you just ask her to wear socks? It’s not complicating. Make sure she knows it’s because her feet are freezing cold and not because you think her feet are horribly ugly, though.

lonelydragon's avatar

If her cold feet are the only problems you have in your marriage, you are a lucky man. Get a heating pad or an electric blanket.
