Did anyone else find Conan O'Brien's farewell speech quite inspiring?

Asked by davidk (1432points) January 26th, 2010

I was very impressed with Conan O’Brien’s parting words at the end of his last show. There was no bitterness. In fact, he really came off as a decent guy with respect for others and genuine perspective. What he said at the close of his last show was very inspiring. I hope someone puts it on YouTube or Hulu…just the closing remarks would be worthwhile replaying.

I’ve never been a fan of any of the late night shows. But now I wish that I had taken the time to give, at least Conan, a second look. As a New Yorker, I hope that he finds his way back to a Manhattan studio, with a new show.

Very much so. Before this whole fiasco I liked Conan as a comedian, but now after see how he handled the situation I like him as a person.

That’s a huge part of his success. He is always genuine and never mean-spirited.

Yes, especially when he asked people not to be cynical about the situation and life in general. Coco is a class act.

I missed out on watching his last show. Does anyone know where I’d find it online?

@jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities
You are so right! That was at the heart of his farewell address.

Yeah, Canadians can’t view Hulu. Bummer.

Thanks, though.

@jmah Silly Canada, Hulu is for the U.S.! ~

Try this one.

I just found this on YouTube. The last 45 seconds are simply amazing and hit upon exactly what @jeffgoldblumsprivatefacilities referenced a while back:

YES! Especially his comments to young people about his least favorite quality—cynicsm.

Ah, and Canadians can’t watch anything on the NBC website (redonkulous).

Thanks, though, Bud.

That was a great farewell speech, he did it perfectly. I’m so glad I saw it and Ben Harper doing his thing on the slide guitar at the end made it that much better!

I agree with what pretty much everyone else said so far. His speech just made me like him more than I already did. His speech was simple and honest… very classy. I <3 Conan.

@jmah Maybe this? It says Fancast, but I’m not sure if it connects to Hulu.

Conan is a genuine guy and real class act. It’s a loss for NBC, and a loss for us all.

As goofy as he can act, he’s a super smart, literate and truly nice guy.

@eponymoushipster
I was impressed by his guitar skills too.
