What was the last thing you saw that forced you into a double take?

The old double take when we see something we weren’t expecting, that caught us off guard.Could be someone or something, either that shocked you or pleased you.

When I read what I was gonna get for my birthday this year! I think triple, quadruple double take would be more like it!

Yes, the car in front of me on the interstate yesterday on the way to work. The driver was a “weaver” anyway, and those drivers irritate me, and suddenly it started fish tailing, and going back and forth from lane to lane, then took a sudden left into the median. I was now right behind that car. Traffic stopped, I put my flashers on to go check on them, and as I was unbuckling my seatbelt, they took off again.

I teach now at the college I attended 10-ish years ago. As I was walking through campus yesterday from my office, out of one of the buildings came a short, dark skinned young woman wearing a black hoodie with the hood up and her hands in her pockets. I thought for all the world it was one of my best friends (who now lives no where near me or the college) and that it was suddenly 10 years ago. I may have done a triple-take.

The mirror.

I recently have grown a full beard. I look twice as old as I did a month ago. It’s freaky.

Full view of a bare breasted female, casually walking from her car to her apartment. Very nice. Very long double take.

@UScitizen Ahhhhhhhhhh!

An unintentional panty flash. I am so base, but GD, there is something so excellent about catching a brief glance at that which is meant to be hidden.

Three guys in kilts, thigh high leather boots, one shirtless, striding purposefully down my street, with long hair and bearded. More like this than like a contemporary look. It was so out of place.

I swore i would never devulge this to anyone, but i will give you some hints. for the third year in a row, i have used TurboTax to file my income taxes. i went to work specifically reading each line that TurboTax asked for my 2009 income tax. as i progressed through the TurboTax question process, i kept noticing a green box at the top of the page. as i added legal deductions, this figure became larger and larger. i originally thought this was a pop-up of some kind or maybe a hidden commercial. as i neared the end of filling out all the forms, i again noticed the figure in the little green box, this was a huge number. i finally clicked the final button of my 2009 income tax form and it was ready to be emailed to uncle sam. the little green box began to flash and a final report flashed on my computer screen. i did not do a double take, i did a triple take at the amount of my tax refund. i still do not believe i am receiving this amount as a refund. its a first for me and its all legal. any guesses on the amount of my refund for 2009?

MrItty's avatar

@john65pennington you do realize of course that that money was yours all along, and your withholding should be decreased, because Uncle Sam has pretty much stolen your interest that you should have been collecting for the last 12 months, right? :-)

As for my guess, I’ll say $2,000. That’s what my federal + state refunds come out to be this year. <shrug>
