Does everyone realize the medical advice for hyperventilation is not to breathe into a paper bag?

Asked by Adirondackwannabe (36713points) March 17th, 2010

The question was asked what does breathing into a paper bag do for someone short of breath, dizzy, etc. I answered it restores the CO2 balance, but medical advice is not to do this. I have got 8 GA’s for giving out lousy advice.

yes, . . .

sometimes GA’s seem to be dime a dozen . . .

@Adirondackwannabe Your physiological information was correct; it’s just that there are some instances where restoring CO2 balance isn’t the right thing to do, especially if it sacrifices blood oxygen content. :-)

Also, leave the medical advice to the trained professionals.
