Why are people crying about Ben Rothlisburger not being charged?

Asked by Mikelbf2000 (1121points) April 13th, 2010

There was not enough proof for Ben Rothlisburger to be charged. Therefore it could not be proven that he was guilty of any wrong doing. Why are people acting like they know exactly what happened? Sports columnist, and basically everyone else is demanding that he be punished. I don’t care if it is the second time. There was no proof on either of the acussations. Why don’t just leave him alone?

Maybe people who know more about law and the real circumstances than you do made the right decision.

Could be they feel there’s a pattern developing and have decided that’s sufficient “evidence” to go after him. It’s news, that’s why you have the columnist’s weighing in with their opinions on it, it’s what they’re paid to do. It may also be the “poor decisions” factor – people perceive him as getting himself into these situations and doing stupid stuff off the field, they’re going to start questioning him. The perception that he’s being treated differently because of his status absolutely is in the minds of some people as well.

Right or wrong, any of those reasons among others are likely to be why they don’t just leave him alone.

@DarkScribe what do you mean? The people who know more about the law made the right decision and did not charge him for anything. It wasn’t proven. I didnt say anthing about me knowing more about the law. I do know as should anyone that if there is not enough evidence to charge then he shouldnt be charged.

Who is he? What did he do?

Mikelbf2000's avatar

@Dibley he’s the Pittsburg Steelers Quarterback, he was accused of sexual assualt but wasnt enough proof for him to be charged.

Sophief's avatar

@Mikelbf2000 Oh, I don’t know anything about that sorry.

Mikelbf2000's avatar

@Dibley no problem :) I will say that most of our athletes in America are spoiled and think they are above the law. lol

The only difference between this case and thousands of other cases that pop up every single day, is that the accused is a famous, rich individual.

Just look up the number of sexual assault cases that go unsolved because of a lack of physical evidence. It’s not a crime that often has eyewitnesses, you know.

slick44's avatar

@Dr_Dredd .. got my fingers crossed. I actually have a whole steelers rm. paint and all. lol

@Mikelbf2000 DarkScribe what do you mean?

My error – I was a bit too hurried and by the time I noticed it was too late to edit. I meant that as a response for those who question the decision – not to you.

Because they feel is smacks of cover up, because he is rich and famous he gets away with it. Sort of like OJ, that Kennedy cousin and the list goes on and on.

Not fair for those rich and famous who are truly innocent, but then I am not saying this Rothlisburger was innocent. I don’t know, don’t follow football.

I think its stupid how people try to play sports stars and celebrities so they can make fake claims on them to try and get some money and media attention.

He’s innocent. :( People need to stop hatin’.

Mikelbf2000's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr if it there are no eyewitnesses and there is no proof he even did anything then he can not be charged. No eye witnesses, no evidence, means no charges. You can’t charge a man/woman based on he said she said BS.

Mikelbf2000's avatar

@DarkScribe. it’s ok, happens to me all the time, i type in a hurry and tend to make errors.

Seek's avatar

@Mikelbf2000

Yes. That is true, for this case and for literally tens of thousands of others every year that we don’t hear about. The only reason anyone gives a shit about this case is because this guy plays football.

Mikelbf2000's avatar

@Seek_Kolinahr I’m not saying he didn’t do it. I’m not saying he did. I just love how people eat up celebrity crap.

Don’t talk with your mouth full.

@Seek_Kolinahr what was that about? Being a little rude aren’t we.
