Not as much as in other European countries. If you’re in a touristy area, it shouldn’t be that much of a problem. I’d suggest you get one of those cheap basic courses of Italian.

In bocca al luppo!

@bob_ I myself am half italian but my dad never taught me or my brother the language, I dont speak or understand it. I did order something online in italian but I would have no idea how to pronounce any words – maybe I should sit down and look at it properly. I would love to go to italy in the future.

@silvermoon Try something like this. If you like it, consider a proper language course. If not, well, at least you’d have learned some phrases.

@bob_ Ever been to France? English is basically outlawed.

In Rome it was common enough. Knowing a little Italian can go a long way though. But Italians, in Rome anyways, are really very friendly and easy to talk to.

I have a friend from Italy and she speaks fantastic English. She understands me perfectly and i have a Scottish accent.

Most of her friends and family speak English although the older members don’t….so i would say most of the younger generation or individuals who have to through the job they do speak good English.

@Zyx Oui. Ever been to the Netherlands? Everyone I talked to spoke English there.

I once had two Norwegians work for me. Their English, especially written, was much better than the Americans and Brits I had working for me.

@bob_ lol (which is a dutch word fucktards, that abbreviation was probably made up by fucktards who went to the netherlands.)

Anyway, lol, I I live in the Netherlands and we learn English, German and French in school. I’m also taking the time to learn some Japanese. America thinks it has power but we are the hub, the hive mind will form here.
